Default Z51 Brake Pads

Does anyone know if the Brake Pads for the Z51 Stingray are the same SIZE pads on any of the previous C6 models??

I want to get Ceramic Pads to attempt to eliminate the Dust from these brakes! I will never be tracking the car (I have the supercharged Lotus when I feel the urge ).

Appreciate any input or information............

Completely different pad shape than anything else.

The fronts appear similar to the Camaro SS but the rears are way different.

I'm having race pads made for the cars and should be done shortly. I don't know of any ceramics. Might not hurt to see about getting the pads from the base cars to see if that dusts any less.

The manual in my C7 Z51 gives a quite detailed brake burnishing procedure if you plan on racing the car. It involves stopping from 60 to 30mph at .8G or something like that 25 times, and then again at .4g.
My question is what do I gain by doing all this? I don't plan on high speed events but will be autocrossing, which a lot less brutal.

I did not "burnish" (called "bedding" by most racing brake manufacturers) because the manual says it is only necessary for track use. Well, even avoiding pedal pressure at stoplights after anything but super light brake application I started getting brake judder (incorrectly called warped rotors) after only 2,000 miles. I could see a very light pad imprint on the rotor under strong light reflection. See the link for an explanation of brake judder: http://stoptech.com/technical-suppor...and-other-myth

So I bedded the brakes as in the manual (take Dramamine first if you are the least motion sickness prone as repeated .8 stops can really do a number on you even when track events do not.) and the judder went away for the most part.

As for the post about finding a lower dusting pad: I consulted Stop Tech and he matched me up by dimensional specs with a Camaro SS low dusting semi-metalic pad. I just got them today so I haven't put them on yet. They should need no bedding (and hopefully the brake squeal will cease). I will, of course, have the rotors turned first (as always when installing new pads) according to the stop tech specs for getting rid of the metal and deposits that caused the judder in the first place. Here's the reply and part # from Stop Tech:

"After locating the new pad shape dimensions and comparing them with existing models, it would only appear that we can supply a front pad alternative to the OEM pads.

The PosiQuiet Semi metallic front pads which would offer good performance compared to stock with much less dust can be ordered with part number 104.14740, however the hardware kit that ships with those pads is for the Camaro SS and would not apply to your calipers."

I just looked for a local supplier listed on the Stop tech web site and they drop shipped me a set for the fronts for about $65. I'' post an update after installation next week hopefully.

Hope this helps

One more thing.
I ran across this post:

Scroll to the bottom where he lists C7 Z-51 brake pad shapes.

Also, the front pad is a existing pad shape but, the rear is totally new.
