Ranger is an excellent driver but he also tends to have tons of respect for other people's property (a good thing!), so unless he buys one himself, don't expect to see quite the same "10/10ths level" of driving. I think just his skill alone will still produce very fast times even taking it relatively easy, though.
Ranger is a good driver, but there there are people here just as good or better, not taking anything away from his driving skill but his hero runs are what you get when you put any good driver in perfect conditions .

Must be nice to able to "chase the DA"...some us have to work and don't have that luxury.
I was simply suggesting eliminating the driver component of the car's performance. Having Ranger drive the C7 would provide a good foundation for comparing car to car. Whatever you think about him is not really relevant.
I agree with NytmereZ and Knome. I don't think it's the shifting as much as it is the start/roll out, the track prep, and the DA. Lots of legends are made at MIR and Atco in the winter.

You ARE trying to take that away form him. From what I've seen he has consistently gotten the quickest numbers in multiple cars. You get the number then YOU can claim it. Jeez!
Datalog your car (for the manual guys) and look at how much time is lost between shifts... it's humbling. DA is a huge factor but even here in the midwest we see negative DA (It's -3000DA today) it still takes a great driver to pull off a hero run.

It is just not ET, it is trap speed too. Ranger was regularlly 2-3mph faster than me when guest driving my car same day. This was due to his shifting speed and percison. Not saying other guys can't do it as I know there are.
But from what I have been seeing from the A6 C7s, I think Ranger would be hard pressed to beat Snorman's times driving a M7 car.

Re-read my post, I said I was NOT taking anything away from his driving skill, I've seen him drive. If you think he is the only person who has "got the number" you are very mistaken, maybe some people could care less about "claiming" the number, some people have more important things to do in their lives.

It's not the speed of his shifting at all, to sum it up he really made it a full time job, from computer logging 100's of runs, to temps, track prep etc.., he basically was doing , to his credit, was replicating launch control, in today's cars it is all done for you, so there wouldn't be much of a gap in today's cars, even in perfect conditions with him behind the wheel.
Who knows, GM probably took note and hired him to help with the number side of it.
