Default which oil

Which oil are you guys using? the manual states that "corvette recommends mobil 1engine oils". however the oil cap reads sae-5w30 (i think) i just know that my c6 had Mobil 1 on the cap. so my concerns are this:
1. does the engine oil calculator go off of 3k, 5k miles since it's not synthetic?
2. I want to run Mobil 1. if I do this and change oil every 10k miles will dealer warranty this?
3. someone told me that federal law allows us to change our own oil AND still be covered under warranty.

sorry for the ambiguous post, just trying to do the absolute best for my baby.
thanks
John

ps I'm sure this issue has been brought up before, I searched and found two however they didn't cover all these items.

I found this

No. US Federal laws prohibits "captive" maintenance practices where the owner must return to the dealer to have maintenance services done. As long as you keep up with the vehicle maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer's directions, you can have the work done at any place you choose. Save your receipts!

Using Mobil 1 5w-30 and following the manual's service procedure will be just fine.

RTFM. The manual does not say what you claim. The engine oil requirements appear in a table in Section 11-12 of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Owner Manual. The manual recommends ACDelco GM-specification dexos1 engine oil for regular driving. It mandates Mobile 1 for track use.

Mobile 1 is, of course, pure synthetic. dexos1 is a GM specification that almost every engine oil producer, including Mobile 1, complies with for some of its product. You are not restricted to ACDelco. dexos1-compliant pure synthetics as well as synthetic blends are available.

There is no need to guess. If the can has "dexos1" printed on the label, then the oil is compliant. If not, then find a brand that is.

Wow.."read the effin manual" thanks man. I have been, and you're saying that the manual does not say what I claim! Why don't you RTM page 10-14.
the reason I posted what I did was because of the varying information within the manual.

John,

You're overreacting a little. The use of any oil specified to be dexos1 will maintain the performance spec set by GM for the vehicle.

You can change your oil as often as you'd like using a dexos1 product without any issues with your vehicle or warranty.

The oil life indicator does not run off of a set mileage scale, but rather uses different metrics to check remaining oil life.

Your dealer will give you oil changes under the warranty at set intervals. I highly recommend changing earlier, as specified in the other engine oil thread.

Thanks, yeah a bit touchy cause seems like every post somebody nails me, and didn't like being called a liar. This cars electronic gremlins alone have me rethinking things...anyway I digress.
I plan on changing oil myself at 500 mi. I did find the oil life mode and its at 95% I'm at 450 mi.
Thx
John
