In my experience the launch control is quite awesome! I cut a 1.67 60' on the stock tires with 530whp...
I'm sure the launch control works better with some traction, on the street with a lot of wheelspin as soon as you let of the brake and the tires spin it just shuts the car off for a second (thats the traction control of course). Best 0-60 I ever got using the launch control was 5.6 seconds lol, just rolling into the throttle I've done 4.4s.
But with good traction I'm sure it works OK, cant imagine it works any better then just flooring it with decent traction though
There seem to be a number of cars that won't go into PTM/launch mode.
The dealer can do a reset to allow access to that submenu in "Tr"ack drive mode.

ok does that require a reflash of the cars calibration or something not pcm flash related?

I do not believe they reflash the PCM or change the calibration.
There were, however, quite a number of earlier cars that could not access the PTM submenu. It appeared to be remedied quite easily by the dealers. I realized mine could not access the PTM submenus either the first time I tracked it at Daytona.
