I'm really not one to stir up trouble for GM or make more of a fuss than needed, but things like this may need to be taken more public to finally get them to stop their bullying tactics.
The C7 has some fundamental flaws, and we've seen numerous examples here of failures, etc. It might be time to start getting the word out about how you're being treated if they don't start treating you like they should be.
I've not heard of a manufacturer re-building a failed engine at 2600mi total oil failure... There's no telling what else is damaged, and that part list is very light. What exactly are they doing to the block in the machine shop? Lots of questions to ask...
I'm not picking on the C7 - I have an absolute boatload invested in mine at this point, so I would have gotten rid of it if I saw anything earth-shattering with mine, but it's fine. Overall, the platform and car is great - these warranty issues are making me sick, though. If this is the 'new GM', people are going to get pretty upset...
That's completely unacceptable! They should replace the engine. I had a cracked ringland on my Cadillac ATS and they replaced all the pistons, rods, and bearings. That car is leased, so I didn't care if they rebuilt it or not. If I had bought it, then I'd be demanding a new engine. If this had happened to my C7, there's no way in hell I'd let them get away with anything less than an engine. I've been reluctant to tune my car because I want to retain the warranty, but if this is what I'm retaining...forget it. You've got to take it to the next level.
I will wait and see what they say tomorrow, I now have a case number but my car is on a lift without a motor and I just have a sick feeling! I am normally a pretty calm person and really feel like the Dealership is trying but it is GM that is not wanting to replace the motor. And for a side note I had no signs or warnings what so ever at anytime before this noise occurred. Keep in mind the car still ran when I drove it to the Dealer two weeks ago, Now it's in pieces!

What makes me angry is that you're not that far from me, so we're in the same region. While I don't really have much of a warranty left, I would hope that I don't get treated like that on anything that's still covered (electronics, suspension, etc).
2 weeks .... I'm still trying, but I'm still without a vette and a payment due.
If your car is not back on the road within 30 days after it went into the shop, start a lemon law to make GM do a buy back, and then buy a new 2015.
Your car went into the shop on June 3. Correct? It's now July 10 and well over the 30 days allowed by Missouri law. Start a lemon law buy back now. Contact an attorney. Don't take the car back unless you are happy with having the engine rebuilt.

My car (OP) has been out of commission since 6/2

If it makes you feel any better I still have mine sitting at the dealership.

Being in MO and going down this path before, this part is very important:
To qualify for protection under the Missouri New Vehicles Warranty Law, your vehicle must have been out of service for 30 business days or more, or have been submitted for repairs 4 times or more. If your complaint is found to be valid, you will be entitled to either a replacement vehicle or a refund of the vehicle's purchase price.
Before you can file a legal complaint under the Missouri New Vehicles Warranty Law, you must provide a formal notice to the vehicle's manufacturer to allow the company a final opportunity to correct the problem.
Just spent the afternoon with the Dealer General Manager and Regional Rep and they both stepped up way beyond our expectations! .... We go back tomorrow to pick up our new car!

Talk about a total 180 - holy hell!
You really lucked out there - congrats, my friend! Enjoy your new car!

Glad GM came thru for you, just making you work a little.
Good deal Frank! That is in line with what I have seen with other GM cases involving significant failure early in the vehicle life. I expect that someone made a bad call early on when they should have called for a replacement engine and after what they put you through the intelligent decision was made to go beyond the standard to make good for the earlier goof.
