Ok. After two washes today to prep for polish, not one drop under the hood. I am convinced this happened before I took delivery. Whether it was QC or dealer, it isn't an issue from washing. Checked right after and an hour later after both washes. No moisture. I didn't do anything differently or avoid the vent while washing. Had to have come from under the car somehow, someway.

I was able to remove 90% of the stain by dabbing a wet cloth on top of it once. I'm sure it will get better with a second and third dabbing.

Non issue as far as I'm concerned at this point. Moving on...

I try not to hit the front louver opening directly with high water pressure. The system is designed for normal wind/water flow Abnormal pressure or water flow pattern could cause water not to drain through the ducting properly. I have not problems to date.

On my C5s and C6 I used Simple Green (mixed 50/50 with water) sprayed onto the fabric. Soak it with the solution to make sure you get all of the grease, oil and other dirt these things pick up. This is also a good time to clean the engine compartment so you could soak the complete compartment and then use a garden hose to spray everything to get the Simple Green off. Once I finish rinsing the engine compartment and hood I close the hood and start the engine and let it run for 20 minutes or so. That usually boils off all of the water and drys out the hood liner.

My hood insulator is stained too. I tried flushing with plain water but no joy.

Mine was a QA car, wonder if that is the cause?

It gives me some time to wipe the underside of the hood (painted parts) and the exposed pieces of the engine, as well. Sort of in the same category as wiping the door sills and the painted surfaces inside of the doors. Or the underside of the hatch/trunk.

Mine has started to show this staining, now. I'm not a happy camper.

Is this something we all can expect as we put more miles on them? I've got 25,000 miles now.
