I am going to order a new Corvette 3LT Z51. I wanted to ordered Magnetic Ride control but the dealer told me it only works in track mode. Since I do not plan to be driving in track mode, I did not order it. Is what the dealer told me correct?
The mag ride works in all modes. Eco, Weather, Touring are the same ride while Sport and Track each have their own ride. I use Sport mode all the time except when Mrs.WKMCD is with me and then I use Touring most of the time.
Your dealer is an idiot, in tour mode it makes it soft, in sport/track it makes it harder. Definitely get it. The Z51 package is a prerequisite though.

if your getting a z51 and your not going to track/autocross it, get the mag ride because your not going to like the hard ride day after day on the street. mag ride is wife friendly for ones who want a z51. im picking up a 2015 in the morning z51 non-mag car, why non-mag? i think for what i do autocross/tracking it works for me! i will be changing everything sooner or later and back and forth, up and down lol== springs, shocks, sways! to me aftermarket parts will be the way to go. c7 is a great car, aftermarket will make it better. even some z06 owners will drop mag ride for $1,600 dollar koni's ect. if i was never going change anything i would have ordered the mag ride, even my dealer ask me at time of ordering was i sure i did not want the magride. i told him i will be back for z06 bars, maybe the rear spring! he smiled.
I would go to another dealer or deal with another salesperson/manager at your dealership. In my opinion, the magnetic ride is a very nice feature with the Z51 suspension.
The high volume well regarded forum dealers know the corvette inside and out, like us vette junkies. Unfortunately, Chevy sales people are woefully inadequate in most cases, with their vette knowledge. Probably cause they sell very few vettes compared to all the other Chevy models.
Your dealer doesn't have a clue. I hope the service department is better.
I'd see to it that I find another more competent dealership. Magnetic ride is what I bought when I bought my 1SC 50th and that was in 2003. It reads 'touring' or 'sport' Please, get your money back and find a knowable dealership !

Thanks
The difference is incredible - softens the ride on econ and touring - gets noticeably stiff in sport and track - get it if you can stomach the extra cost
Salesman is probably confused since PTM is included with Mag ride control. PTM is only active in track mode, but Mag ride is there for you to use through all modes.
You really have to do your own homework before going shopping for this car. Salesman at most dealerships will only sell one, or two Vettes in their lifetime; maybe none, so they don't do the research needed to be right on top of this car.
