HP Tuner allows you to tune your car yourself. Diablo is a handheld, you just load a preset tune.

HP Tuner = steep learning curve, potentially taking training classes and months (or perpetual) learning what to do, keeping up with changes, etc.

Do you want an easy way to load a performance tune into your car? Diablo is a great option.
Do you want to do it yourself and learn what makes your car tick? HPT.

Thank you for the response. That's what I was told but wanted a outside opinion. Since I'm going to be doing a lot of adding on extras step by step I will go with the HP tuner.

The nice thing about HP Tuners is that you can have your car remote tuned by any tuner you choose. Vengance did mine, we used a WiFi connection they remoted into my computer and did the tune in Wisconsin while they were in Georgia.

You also get data logging which helps tremendously for tuners to know what your car is doing from each iteration they preform.

Just a reminder than HPT Pro MVPI is nice to have for the additional wideband support.

This is a big deal for doing road testing, remote tuning, etc.

HP Tuners is not for the weak of heart. It takes dedication to learn the software before you actually tune. It not cheap either because you should actually take a tuner class. There are many setting and tables you can mess with. Many are not easy to understand.

Pay a professional, easily worth the money. If you can afford a new Corvette you can afford $500 bucks for a custom tune.

HP Tuners is a powerful program. Ive been to both the beginner and advanced tuning school, and since its in Tampa, I return up there a couple times a year as an adjunct instructor when they run the courses. Its a step by step program.

I think I spoke to the OP last week about your LFX Camaro correct?

Tuning is like playing the guitar, if want to be good at it you need to do it daily, you are taking on a hobby if you want to do it yourself and chances are you will never play with the likes of Jimi. At least that's how my simple mind see's it.

I think that's an excellent analogy and why I leave it to the pros!

This is very true and seriously complicated by the fact that the Engine Control Module (ECM) for the C7 is very new and different from the previous models. Very few tuners have had an opportunity to really learn it and they tend to be keeping that knowledge very close to the vest. Learning opportunities are scarce particularly for someone new to tuning.

OP,

Be patient. HPTuners will soon be releasing Handheld Cals that can be linked to the MPVI Pro Units.. This will save you some cost over buying a new MPVI Pro and can remove the learning curve completely for you to learn to tune your C7 on your own..

They had the unit debuted at PRI in Indy this Dec...

I have a few C7 cals I have personally Dyno tested on some bolton C7's M7 and A6 units that would work wonders on a LT's CAI c7 platform

Just be patient

Tune your car yourself? Right! The so-called experts can't even tune my car with an HP tuner.
