Glad you like the simple method I came up with. I also knew that WOT forced the valves open in stealth mode and that was another reason I went with the mechanical lock/override of the actuators. Another guy in a heads/cam Camaro was blowing sound too, so I showed him what I did and he did the same. It also worked for him.

Ya I figured getting the tips aligned perfectly would be troublesome. Plus the total cost for me to do this under 400 bucks and I still have my stock set up.

it was not that difficult, just a bit time consuming. On top of that my npp is still functional and it cuts the sound down by a good margin when closed.

I do like that it looks stock but sounds nothing at all like stock. Some times the hard road is worth traveling to get something different than everyone else.

Yeah definitely better for tip alignment too. I just really don't see how that can cut much sound when closed. Maybe a couple dB due to poor flow path, smaller piping, and tiny resonator haha.

You would think so but that is not the case at all with regard to the open mode.

In the open position this set up is MUCH louder and significantly deeper sounding than stock track mode. Only slightly more drone than stock.

closed mode is about the same as the track mode was, perhaps slightly louder. Drone is equal to or LESS than stock track mode.

Keep in mind I also removed the afm valves and idk if that has any contributions to the changes. V4 mode is louder for sure and by quite a bit but it doesn’t drone so no big deal for me there.

so overall it’s louder everywhere but covering those 4 holes makes far more difference than expected in the open position and that smaller pipe size and tiny resonator dropped the sound level WAY MORE than I thought it would so I really can’t complain. I got what I wanted for 400 bucks rather than 2500 and I swapped tail lights at the same time.

it’s not for everyone I know, but it was a win for me. With a stock x pipe this would probably make a lot of people very happy with the sound improvement. With the Corsa x pipe I have this is likely on the border of or beyond what many would consider tolerable with regard to volume alone. Sound or tone, well that is subjective even more so than volume but to me it sounds great.

the other upside is doing the clear tail lights at the same time as the exhaust and learning how all that goes together too.

Right the loud mode was changed the same as the old Muffler mod which I have done many times. deeper and slightly louder, but your quite mode is now not quite its somewhere in the middle.

just my take on it glad you like it though. always up for experiments
