Default 2014 C7 Salvage Project

Recently got a slavage C7 and have gotten it down from this

To now this

I was wondering if anyone has experience putting on the C7 wheelhousings? I have read the posts about older corvettes but for the C7 there are no bolts, just glue. I have kept glue in certain spots to help me with spacing. Also made some outline marks on duct tape for a reference.

Also, has anyone welded on new rail bars? Im going to use the placement of the welds no the old rail bars as a starting point. My plan is to tack them into place and mock up the fenders, bumper and hood to make sure everything will fit nicely. Correct me if I'm wrong but seems like some spacing adjustment can be made with the fender, bumper and hood.

Looks Good (for a wreck). I used to build Total Loss wrecks (in my home shop). I'd suggest going to a body shop and get them to print the dimensional drawings for the front-end for you. Or locate a a car that you can take pictures of and measure. You will have some room for movement in the parts for alignment (but I'm unsure of how much on a C7). Are you buying new parts? I'd been lucky enough a couple of times to find Salvage Yard parts that were the correct color. car-part.com

Looks like his hood is usable.

BC, I wanted to ask "How Much" but some people don't like to disclose that info.

Some Insurance Auctions will now let Individuals Bid (on some cars). What this had done is pushed the Price up on cars like this one considerably.

I got it for 30K after fees and everything. I did a lot of searching around for used parts. Living in LA there were some options but honestly I wasn't impressed with any "deasl." I found a local salvage yard and an ebay seller asking around $700 for the whole right suspension setup. upper, lower control arms, shock, and knuckle. I bought the same OEM parts for $500. I don't have too much free time and rather be working on the car than driving around looking for good deals on parts so I just bought from an OEM website. I think the hood will work but if it doesn't Ill hit you up T/A KID.

I bought the service manuals and they have 2 dimensions to help locate the front bumper under the body repair section.

Will the body shop have more info?

As a Builder, I'm looking forward to seeing you repair it.

Did it blow the air-bags?

(I've built numerous cars and motorcycles from the frame up.)

Its going to take a lot of work putting that back to gather + it will need to put on a frame machine to get it right. LOL

Wow. That is an ambitious project. I've had light flood damaged cars and cars that were totaled due to theft but never one with a whole piece of the frame gone. Kudos for be willing to take this on. I hope you love working on cars. You have big cajones.

When you get it done, ensure you get agreed upon value insurance. Regular insurance won't care until it's time to pay a claim. The car having a branded title will impact any loss unless you go agreed upon value.

Right on fastoldguy. Glad you said hi. I have gotten 4 salvage motorcycles from the auction and fixed them up but nothing like a frame repair.

The drivers airbag did blow. Replaced the clock spring and have a new drivers airbag ready to go in. Do you know if I have to remove the airbag module or if it can be reset in place?

Thanks C7-Beast for the support and the heads up on insurance. Do you happen to know if AAA does agreed apron value?

Since this is Your Car, if you were a Shop you couldn't but... I'd normally buy Air-bags and the Modules off ebay. In many cases I'd get both bags and the module for $500ish. Just buy from a reputable Seller. I'd never tried to re-flash the modules. Locate the AB Module and google the number. Odds are it's one that fits numerous GM vehicles.

If you have all the measurements, you might get by without a frame machine. If you don't have a Porta Power, I'd buy one. I can tell you, by looking at the pictures, I would have bought it.

I'd repaired numerous late model cars (and even had Warranty work done after it was totaled). I'm unsure about now, but the warranty used to still be good even after being repaired.

Honestly not sure. I typically use Hagerty or NCM for agreed upon value coverage. If you plan to drive a lot, you'll probably need to look around.

I haven't seen a C7 collision repair manual but I have attached a C6 Z06 manual that explains welding aluminum and how to cut and measure, you might be able to use it as a guide.C6_Collision_Manual-1.pdf
