New Supercharger installed on Tuesday. Hit Pocono today and check engine light and Reduced Engine Power came on at 140mph on lap #1! All temps were low. Very frustrated. Same code P0106. Back to Dealer tomorrow to discuss with Tech Center. GM Executive office was notified again. I don't have any answers. 2nd track day lost and Watkins Glen coming up in 5 days!

Dayum!!! I don't know WTH is the matter with some of these cars!?!?

I've got a '16 M7 that has been problem free, but the issues you and others are having make me wonder when my car may decided to start giving me problems!!

Good luck, and keep us informed like you've been doing.

I'm sorry to hear that
I recently visited the dealer, with negative results. I was advised that since the CEL had already cleared itself, they could not verify what the issue was and if it cleared itself that it's not something permanently wrong with the car. I politely explaiend the issue only happens under heavy acceleration and usually over 160 mph. The service advisor looked at me in disbelief and asked me why I would ever want to go that fast to begin with. At that point I thanked him for his time and left. This is becoming very frustrating.

Had mine out again today for track day as well. Dealer couldn't find source of P0106 MAP "Engine Power Reduced" last time so today was supposed to test to see if problem still there. Car literally wend into EPR on my second lap. Again under full throttle... heavy load... coming up back straight, uphill full throttle @ 4,200-4,400 rpm 5th gear. Cleared code and repeated this 3 times in almost exact same place and conditions.

If I don't run the back straight at full throttle acceleration I can avoid the EPR for lap after lap.

I ended the day by going full throttle up back straight, almost immediately got an engine power reduced message, then drove car straight onto the trailer with codes left in place. Car will be dropped back at dealer tomorrow by trailer. Time for them to find and fix this issue... enough BS and run around... tired of wasting my time and money.

What mph and rpm does it set the code ? I still think this is a programming problem between the MAF output and MAP expected input through the ECM. The rate of change in the program is wrong and the code sets during a prolonged slow rate of change load.

Your scanner shows alot of detail. mine shows just the P0106 code again but maybe Service Department at Chevy can extract more info. The Supercharger replacement did NOT work. Another guy I know had his MAP sensors replaced and that did NOT work. I am at a loss at the moment.

GM needs to reflash the map sensitivity table is my guess. It changed in 2017 and those cars are very prone to po106 pure stock or a simple cai.

It triggers at different RPM and speeds... there is no pattern to that. The only pattern I can determine is that it ONLY has happened on the back straight and the main difference there is that the back straight is a VERY long UPHILL climb so the engine is at MAX load for an extended period of time. Other areas of the track are also quite high speed (though not as high), but NONE of those areas are uphill climbs or last as long so the throttle is not wide open for all that long. But I pull higher RPM on the front side of the track than on the Andretti Straight and have never had a EPR trigger anywhere else on the track.

In order to have "some" fun yesterday I began driving the car in ways to avoid the EPR shutdown. What I found was that I could drive the front portion of the track as hard as I wanted without any issues... BUT... in order to avoid EPR message I had to drastically reduce my shift points (so I was shifting at 4,800 - 5,200... the other thing I had to do was NOT go wide open throttle and leave it there for the duration of the uphill straightaway run... instead if I only did full throttle for short bursts, then let off a little bit for a few moments... then back on... (basically 100% then 80% then slowly back to 95%) and fluctuated the throttle as I climbed the hill... under those conditions I was able to do lap after lap without issue.

Basically you NORMALLY come out of Moss Corner at about 40mph in either 2nd or 3rd (A8 auto) and you would roll into full throttle and leave the peddle to the floor as you climb the hill... progressing up through the gears and hitting @ 145 - 155 at the very top of the straight, before braking for the "S" turns. Doing this causes the car to go into EPR at various points on the climb... but it NEVER makes it to the top driving this way.

If I modify the throttle and RPM then I can avoid this but I'm giving up literally 20 - 25 mph in top speed at the end of the straight in order to avoid the EPR message. Best run I was able to do all day while avoiding the EPR was an end of straight speed of @ 132 but I honestly kept expecting it to go EPR at any moment.

It began intermittently two months ago... some laps I could go full throttle up the back straight and after a few laps it would throw the code. Dealer could find no cause... checked various things. But yesterday it was EVERY time I tried a full throttle backstraight run.

I'm starting to think there is an actual hardware issue, not just software.

I had a friend ride with me in the car yesterday, with the reader hooked up as we drove. On the back straight as the car went into EPR he was able to record the readings on the scanner and save them to the scanner... so I have ALL of the parameter readings from the moments before the EPR message appears, to just after the EPR occurs... the scanner has all of those readings (changes) saved and I'm giving that to the dealer tech today when I drop the car off... Hoping that may help him determine where the problem is originating.

I would hope GM Tech Center in Pontiac Michigan knows this. Replacing the Supercharger at their direction makes me wonder!

Me also.

2017's trigger this code with a CAI and extended load. Some pure stock with the stock air filter trigger it with extended load. Most Dyno jets will not load the car like a wot pass at 140-170 mph so some have made a Dyno run without any codes then set it immediately on a loaded street pass. One 2017 had the same chronic po106 problem and his tuner turned off the po106 test and it fixed the problem. That makes me think it is the map sensitivity table. Hope GM fixes it soon for you guys.

The Supercharger replacement does NOT work! I agree it is something in the tables. GM should know exactly how to fix it. Now the Dealer has put the car in the Field Service Reps hands so who the hell knows how long this will take just to get him to the Dealership to look at the car! Another track day and $$ lost on Monday without a car!

Since GM replaced the Supercharger and all sensors on it, the Vegas bet has to be programming in the ECM. If you get to talk to that rep, tel him you know the map sensitivity table was changed in 2017. Also tell him you know that po106 sets when the ECM compares the MAF flow load rate to the MAP expected pressure load and the two do not align per the tables. This has been proven many times over with the installation of a cai on a 2017 that lowers the MAF output and causes the code. The 2017 MAP sensitivity setting is sooo tight that it happens on pure stock engines.

GM should make things right with you after all things are said and done. I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say thank you for the updates and hopefully we are all back to enjoying our Corvettes how they were designed to be enjoyed soon.

i would hope so but I just don't get the feeling they really give a crap. I have been this road before in a 2016 Z.

There may be hope. I emailed Mary Barra yesterday. She sent it to Tadge who gave it the the Quality Brand Manager who called me. There are 3 things he told the dealer to do but the most important is the pull a vacuum and replace the Supercharger coolant. I did notice some extreme boost on the gauge when just accelerating a little. Also my friends at Pocono have offered me the track to test the car. Hopefully I will know on Friday.

Sadly, a low Hx coolant condition will cause a loss of power that you can feel but does not set a code. No harm in trying , but it will not set a po106.

I'm telling that to the Brand Manager tomorrow. They need to tune it and cut me loose!! If not that will be the 3rd visit for same issue and a Lemon Law slam dunk. I don't want to give up but it is a very sad situation.
