In your case I'd probably go with a 275 on a 9-10 inch rim and just take it easy on the launch. On the drag strip be sure to do a burnout even if it's a short one.
Actually that's really gentle on the car right? about taking it easy on launch. Or with drag radial you still get really good traction even with that size? (also local track doesn't prep the track)
Stock tires I always launched it hard 1500 to 2000rpm. I heard stock it's no problem doing that all day (maybe even dropping the clutch is ok? but I don't do that)
But after drag radial I guess I might want to take it easy so I won't put too much wear/tears on parts. Can drivetrain still take it no problem with 18x9 (to 10) with 275 width with 2000rpm launches or no? And there is a big range from 18x9 with 275 width all the way to 18x12 with 345 tires. With the latter sizes parts will be wearing out fast I bet. But wondering down to what sizes would be perfect for best ET and without being too harsh on the parts. (Stock Z06 M7)

Considering your situation, I'd still go with a 275 dr like a MT or Hoosier.
I know all the options out there and other tire will hook better but also have drawbacks.
Don't dump the clutch. With that tire, you should be fine as long as you are smooth which you will learn over time and start off at 2500-3000ish rpm.
These dr with a proper burnout will hook significantly better than the super wide street tires. But also keep in mind that street tires are more dangerous to drag race on and could be more likely to break parts due to wheelhop, especially wide stiff ones.
It's best to watch some fellas with the same car launch so you can see how it needs to be done and practice at lower rpms. Make sure they are manual cars. Be safe.
l would have Jake see about using a 17 x 9, then you can run the 245 Hoosier.
thank you. Have been looking for the lightest wheel in 18, 17 and 16” if possible. Of coarse with a budget 😃
i am still after 5 years wondering why a 17”x9” rear wheel is no happening for a drag pack rear.
I have ZERO problem grinding down the upper control arm or a portion of the breaks/caliper etc.
Forgot the CF user name here .... he had quite a few videos on motor (NA), nitrous and bolt only ons awhile back. He was always hesitant ... posted up vids and time slips on and off nitrous but didn’t like answering any real questions on his build... in South Florida.
A couple years ago when in person walked by the car... I thought it was a 16” CCW drag pack.
Think... 18’s only fit rear...
Let’s hear about ALL that want the sticky rear tire and tried more than a tire choice.
