So possibly 17" spindles on back and mighty mouse adapter on front to accept a nice drag pack that matches is lightweight under 2K.
Then you have more options for tires that hook, look, and book better. I'd run Stangers setup if I had your setup. And maintaining the stock brakes is awesome. Just have to be sure you want to beat on the car on the strip. I'd also consider setting it up with a fuse that's inexpensive and easy to repair/replace.

Keeping the stock rear brake setup is the hinging factor for me. If I cant at least keep my stock rear brakes it makes a 17" conversion even more a "no turning back" type of decision. My C7 is an all in one car for me. Its a cruising car, show car, around town car, and drag strip car. So I have to find a wheel and tire package that balances this to some degree. Its not daily driven, so I am ok with running skinnies up front when I take it out and radials out back full time.

Yeah, makes sense.

I will admit that on my C5Z I did a mini tub to fit my 19”x13 CCW 505a’s. That was for looks and more meat on the ground. It hooked just a tad bit better than Nitto’s. < BTW... don’t bother with them over 550 rwhp. But, for on the track.... the lightest wheel along with a 16” at the most a 17” wheel will get you the best ET... MPH too !! A light 18” front and rear will be awesime

Rob is placing his thoughts out there getting ideas, opinions and trying to break through.

I just posted regarding the 19x13 CCW’s I had on my old vette. Everyone said it could not work. Well, it did and it was a simple job to make happen. I only massaged the lower control arms with a hand held grinder for less than 10 seconds per side. All is possible.

All I know is boost season is here and I still dont have any wheels/tires for the strip. Was going to try
Forgestar F14
(2) 18x8.5
(2) 18x9

Buttttt they are 3 months out for 18x8.5

Looks like race stars are going to be my only option. I don't want to mess with the brakes and expensive conversions.

downgrading the rear brakes on my 15" setup was a real bummer, but as long as you are not also road racing, i feel stopping power is more than effective 1/4 mile at a time.

my car with the stock brakes up front and the carlyle 4 piston setup in the rear with hp+ pads woes better than my all stock ats-v on cold brakes.

getting rid of the humongous stock front brakes would really hurt it i bet

I assume you had Z06 rear brakes. Any chance the Z51 rear brakes would fit?

I felt well enough this morning to venture out into the garage for a trial fit of the front wheels.
It clears easily. I can get my index finger between the wheel barrel and the caliper at any location. Rotation is not a problem. Even though there is no tire mounted, I don't think it will stick further out than the stocker does.
I'll have a pic soon.
Mine is a Z06 with the J56 iron brakes.

This is great news. Any word on the 18x12 rears? How do I get a full set (18x5's and 18x12's) at this point? I've basically got a Z51 with fender flares to accept Z06 width wheels so I think this setup is the end all be all for me until something better comes along. Can you put me in contact with the right people at Forgestar for this?

Thanks,

Ant

Contact Jake at Vibe Motorsports for the hook up.
1 800 814 8423 EXT. 104

No body at Forgestar seems to know much about them, but Jake got my fronts to me in a week. That included repowdercoating them gloss black.
I don't have any rears yet as I've mentioned, but They should fit over the smaller brakes without issue.

Racestar Darkstar 10.5X18 ET 75 mounted on 285/40R18 M/T SS Drag Radials.
9 passes on them.
Local sale only, too costly to ship.
Howdy!

I ordered the full front/rear Forgestars. Jake @ Vibe stated that the 18x12s I have ordered WILL fit. Will be a few weeks and I will post up pics once I receive them. They fronts should be coming to me soon.

I have a set of 26x6-18 Sportsman SRs waiting to mount on the 18x5s. One thing to note is the SRs will do fine for the drag strip, but don't go doing any sustained high speed runs with them. They are only speed rated to 130nph.

Doesn’t that defeat the purpose for cars that will do 145+ in the 1320?

Isn't there an M&H front runner radial?

I would search up how the ratings work, but I believe that is a sustained speed rating and not a quick 1/4 mile burst. With that said, if I were a 145+ car I would look into the MT ET front runners. they are rated for higher speeds.

Yes, they have some too. I am just not a fan of the huge MH on the sidewall.

If it puts you in the 9's I'm sure you can overlook it.
