2014 C7 Stingray. Base. Automatic. Stock. Tried out launch control for the first time today. Put it in track mode. Double clicked **** for launch control and stabilitrack showed off. Competitive driving mode flashing. Pressed brake firmly, put accelerator to the floor. RPM’s stabilized at 2000. Held accelerator and released brake. Engine acted like it missed. Rpm’s dropped then came back up. Almost like it bogged on itself. Then came alive and took off. Tried several times and did the same thing. Stopped trying. You could see an ever so slight black mark start then stop then start again where engine bogged. It was not operator error. What is making it do that? Should I take to the dealership? Still under warranty.
Sounds like it is operating correctly. The engine stutter is launch control controlling rear tire slip so you don't sit still burning your tires. If you were launching the car controlling the throttle yourself you would be lifting off the throttle to cut down on wheel spin. You don't get max acceleration if the wheels are spinning too fast. They need to spin a little not a lot. Check the Spring Mountain video below:
That’s exactly how it should work so there is nothing wrong with your system. It was cutting power to control your wheel slip. Change to performance or drag tires, hook and go, then you will see the “bogging down” stops. I tell my buddies all the time and it is soooo true...” you can have 1000 hp but if you cannot put it on the ground, you will lose everytime in a race”. Our cars have so much power and you are experiencing your engine is outpowering your tires. It just the system keeping everything as balanced as possible. Hope this helps buddy
I’ve watched this video before and mine is not like this. Even though the car in the video is hesitating/bogging, mine seems to just flat out fall on its face then picks back up. So much so I’d be embarrassed to even try launch control with somebody else in the car. It seems almost electrical/computer or mechanical. It almost COMPLETELY loses power. It bucks the whole car getting under way. Its not even close to the smoothness of this video. Like manual says, I hold the accelerator long enough to stabilize rpm’s. Let brake up. Holding accelerator to the floor.
Don't just ease off the brakes. Jump off the brakes. Like dumping the clutch. I'd suspect that if you are sort of easing off it may really confuse the electronics. (just a guess)
Yes I dumped the brakes. Did not feather it on release. But thank you for making the suggestion. Im going to take it to the dealer and let them look at it. I kind of threw this out there just to see if anybody else was or had experienced the same symptoms and what I needed to do. It’s under warranty so..might as well. Thanks
I am not sure where you are located but the video you saw was shot in hot weather with hot tires. Cold (they aren't going to get up to operating temperature without some hard driving even when it is in the 80s and it probably isn't where you are) and older tires (compound has hardened) are going to make the bog worse because the more slip the more intervention from launch control.
It is doing the best it can with the traction you have available. Make sure the tires are hot, in decent shape, and on a good surface and try again.
It sounds like you're wanting launch-out-of-control. Just push the center button in the mode selector once and mash the gas. You'll get a sweet smokey burnout.

Ever since my SC install and tune, my launch control will not work. When I double tap the center button..it goes into the 5 modes. After I select sport 1 or any of the other modes..my TC and stability control light turn off. The car doesnt get into launch mode and it's more like I'm just holding the brake in while pushing the gas pedal.
