Default Poor man's Air Intake

Over the winter I had an extra C7 Intake Manifold sent out and ported, along with my Throttle Body by W-X M. I also bought a After market Hi flow Air filter. Since the Intake Manifold was off, I thought about experimenting, and I decided to modify my own Instead of buying a new one. I read several articles and scouted a few but they didn't seem like they would make much of a difference. Here's what I ended up with.

The restriction in the OEM airbox is actually the size of the filter opening. Nothing else you do is going to make a difference. If you want the cheapest way to get more air from the OEM intake is to purchase a BMS filter. They designed them to fit in OEM box but increase the opening size of the filter facing the intake manifold. However, it will cause the car to run leaner as it slows down the incoming air velocity therefore the MAF "interprets" less air and adds about 5% less fuel.

If your only mods are ported IM/TB along with the BMS, you will likely be OK according to the others that have done this and reported no issues without a tune.

I removed the baffles hoping for a better sound. I thought it might increase air flow with less interrupted air flow passing through the baffles. I do have an after market air filter, also new in the box Jet coated AR Mid Length Headers with two Hi flow Cats, and a iTune new in the box.

I haven't put it back on the car yet. I'll post after I do. It should make a difference. I think the purpose of the baffles is to muffle the noise.

It made a difference. The Air Intake sounds more aggressive with a deeper tone. It might've added a few hp, should've dyno before and after. Also a little less weight off the front end.

I was sizing them up with photos before I modified mine. The Z06 appears to be shaped slightly different. I don't know if it fits or not. Sorry couldn't be more helpful. May I ask, why do you want to use the Z06 Intake?
