FWIW, I recieved a callback yesterday from my dealer who explained to me there is a TSB realted to the water manifold on the '14. I don't really see how that relates to the fans not properly engaging, regardless I'm willing to let them do what they have to with that first and see what happens.

Well, my water manifold is still it's vain inglorious self and my dead fan syndrome has not raised it's shitty little head again since I replaced the fan & controller in my '14.

Just one more example of GM beta-testing at its finest. Fortunately, though, this one they actually fixed in a timely fashion.

Bought mine from Rock Auto. $190 + shipping. Had it a couple days later. It's listed with a Delco part number, but it's definitely the right fan.

SPAL PN VA103-ABL600P-105A
GM PN 84486698
Delco PN 15-81914

I haven't been able to get my car out for an extended highway trip to duplicate the failure conditions yet. But it's working fine in day to day commute traffic. Took me about 30 minutes to install at a casual pace.

Not all of them go nuts. You might be lucky but at least you know the cause if you win the crazy fan award some day! I went very slow as I was doing safe speed on the change and I was done inside of an hour without the nominal hunks of flesh being gouged off by some razor edge piece hiding in the engine bay.

I replaced my fan/controller over a year ago and haven't had a repeat of the "crazy fan" since.

All internet vendors get these from GM Parts. It has been out of stock with GM for at least the last 6 months. I hope these are back in stock now but be sure to call the vendor before you order and ask them to check with GM to insure it is actually available. I just bought mine from a forum member and look forward to getting it installed.
