I would let the dealer worry about it. Warranty cost is included in the price of the product. That is what you paid for when you purchased the car.
Without knowing the codes there is no way to know what happened. There are a lot of codes that can light the CEL and cause an OnStar message to be sent. Two identically equipped cars could have the CEL lit and receive an OnStar message at the same time and the cause could be totally different for each car.
For what its worth number3 I purchased a Buick Encore back in November and I let the free trial for Onstar run out. I just received an email a few days ago from Onstar saying 3 mos for free eligible until 2/26/20 . So I called and they said i could have it for both my Corvette and Buick and told me to cancel before the renewal date if I wanted to cancel. Maybe you can give them a call and see if they will offer it as a promotion for you to try with no obligation just in case the CEL shows up again. Hope this helps!

You realize that this thread is from August of 2019 right ...
Why would he need ONSTAR to read a code hardlynworth all that effort . They already told him he had an emmisons problem but did not retrieve the code ... Any auto parts store can read it if he wanted to retrieve the code
Damn it! That was really strange as I was seeing it on my computer as a new post today. As far as Onstar I was just throwing that out there for another tool to use if needed. Okay, I am not crazy so I see for some reason what was replying to was meant for another thread in the C7 Discussion. I have no idea how I ended up here...that was weird....LOL

There is a feature on forums that will redirect you to related posts if you aren’t careful.
I have a 2019 With only 12k miles. I received the check engine light today and the email I got from onstar said it was an emissions issue.
Anyone have any experience with this or know what it could be?
Thanks for your help.
Hey pal i just bought a used 2019 Z)^ and i love it. i got the same issue today where the check engine light turned on and the my cheverolet app said it was an emissions issue. What were your results?
i did pull the fuse for the NPP so the valave stays open on exhaust last week i wonder if that is what caused it. thanks

Pulling the fuse for NPP will not llight the CEL
Just take it to any auto parts store and have them read the code
