I have a significant delay when I shift in manual mode from 2nd to 3rd gear on my A8 2017 C7 Grand Sport. All the other shifts are normal but 2nd to 3rd is noticeably delayed and can create a whiplash effect at times its so bad. The only other word I could use to describe it is hesitation. This delay happens in ALL driving modes from eco-track. This delay from 2nd to 3rd is not noticeable if I just leave it in automatic. It only does it when I have it in paddle-shift mode. I brought it to the dealer to reset the "relearn" computer but did not help. The dealer then proceeded to say they did some of their own research and told me with the A8 this delay is "normal" from 2nd - 3rd gear. I am calling BS.
Has anyone else experience this issue or found a solution? I am currently bringing it to McKenney Chevrolet in Lowell, NC.
Any and all help from the community would be greatly appreciated as this issue has certainly robbed my experience in being a corvette owner. I haven't had it but a few months and want to sell it already if this can't be resolved.
Were you at wide open throttle or part throttle when you hit the paddles? A number of people complain the A8 doesn't shift immediately if operated in manual mode at part throttle. At wide open throttle there doesn't seem to be a big delay. It depends whether you are serious or not. If serious you are at wide open throttle if not serious you are at part throttle and it doesn't matter whether the shift is fast or slow. Similar to a manual transmission. If you are shifting one of those and are at wide open throttle going for max acceleration you move the clutch and shifter much faster than you do if you are driving around in traffic following a soccer mom in a grocery getter looking for a driveway.
If you weren't wide open throttle try making the shift when you are. If you still have a delay then there is an issue. Of course you need to be someplace where it is safe to do that with no obstructions near if you lose the *** end.
