I agree, not too much love for Amsoil on the Corvette message boards.
I used amsoil in my supercharged Mustang cobra for years. Oil, tranny and Torsen diff. Good stuff!
Looks like most use redline D4 in the tranny with somewhat mixed results
I was going to change to amsoil signature 0W40 when out of warranty but since GM changed to 0W40, I'm OK with the Mobil1 for now.
I'm hesitant to change diff fluid as I might not get the correct level friction modifier for the far more sophisticated e diff.
So I'm kinda leaning toward "if it aint broke don't mess with it"
I believe the e-differential is separate from the rear carrier. Rear carrier uses LS fluid. I used Amsoil with their additive. E-diff I think uses a ATF type fluid and has a small capacity. Check your manual.
Everything you said I have found true in my research. I understand the difference between 100% synthetic and synthetic that is advertised by companies like Mobil1 or Castrol has changed since a law suit between the two mentioned. In other countries other than the US, oil companies have to have 100% syn if advertised as syn. The original Mobil1 that came in those cans were true 100% syn. That all changed supposedly after the law suit was settled. Maybe you can further enlighten our friends on this site. Meanwhile, I changed to Mobil 1 Dexos 2 at the 500 mile breakin, did the research, then changed to Amsoil Signature 0w-40 w Amsoil filter at 650 miles. I really think the engine sounds a bit quieter except the DI. Also used the Amsoil Severe Gear LS 75-90 with their additive. M7 was changed to AC Delco recommended fluid. I was shocked how much metallic particles from breakin were in both at 650 miles.

That is correct. The ELSD (for those that have it) takes 0.5 pint of fuel efficient ATF (dexron VI or equivalent).

I use Amsoil and friction modifier, changed by Abel Chevrolet in Rio Vista. My shifts were a bit slow, but after the change it perked up. They know the Corvette and race. I trust their decision for my car. And their pricing is great.
I use Amsoil 15-50 Race oil with Wix WL10290 (22psi bypass) for the track use very happy, been using for 5+ years
FYI there is another Wix filter 57060 (15psi) that is the exact same size, some auto lookup tables will list the 57060 but it is wrong.
Same with ACDELCO
PF64 is correct with 22psi
PF48 is incorrect with 15psi
Gould1,
As Robert mentions, my product recommendations for him is very specific to his application. My overall recommendations for daily drivers under warranty are covered in my post above. For those with modded cars, or who track, I would give a different recommendation depending on the specific circumstances of the build and use. Drop me a PM or email if you'd like more info.
Cheers,
Brad
