Default Cam/Header install

I recently bought a 2016 M7 Stingray and I believe its having the lifter issues........ I am considering while fixing this issue, also installing a cam and headers. My question is what should the labor cost/hours be on this complete project. I was given a quote, but I just feel like it is high (beyond my budget) as far as labor and parts are concerned. I am debating if the cam/headers are worth the cost, but if the engine is out and things are being done, I would like to do them right and do it the first time, instead of worrying about DOD etc down the road after having the lifter issue taken care of. Any suggestions and help with labor costs/hours would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think you're going to find most charge around $2000 or more for labor. The engine practically needs to be pulled to do the cam swap. The heads need to be removed and the oil pan needs to come off. To get the oil pan off the cradle needs to be dropped for clearance so the motor needs to be supported. Or the engine gets pulled. Either route you go is a big job.

Yes, I had the shop explain the process and did my research here so it is def a huge project unlike my C6. I am curious because the quote I got for the work is too much for me and I'm wondering if I should move on and just fix the lifters or find another shop that won't charge as much that would be within the ballpark of what I can spend. I expected a few grand but the shop quoted me over $8k for cam, all parts, headers, x-pipe, tune and install. This did not include the $2,700 quote for the lifter fix. If the engine is out and the parts are being worked on, I just can't imagine $8k for the cam/header portion being viable.
PS: I won't disclose the shop because they are a great shop, great employees, and have done well by me in the past and definitely know their sh*t.

Wow. Our stage 2 package includes intake, headers, cam and dod delete kit (16 new lifters) and we charge $4935 out the door with install and tuning. Might be worth shipping it up and driving it home from Chicago.

Holy Crap! With the labor involved I totally get why it is so expensive but $8k is just too much, can't swing it. You guys are at a great price for sure.

I would check to see if GM can repair it on the factory warranty. Isn't there a 5yr/60k powertrain warranty?

5 years 60,000 miles on powertrain warranty for the 2016.
