Default I broke something, please help

Installing a catch can, I broke this part. It's the air intake for PCV. How do I fix this? Is there a part # I can order from somewhere? Can I just take that broken part out by itself or do I have to replace the whole intake plenum?

Also how do I take the cardboard heat shield off? I only lifted the front of it to take the pictures.

You're going to need a new intake manifold. You can try epoxy but it might not hold. Also, why are you installing a catch can on a stock LT1? I'm sorry you got caught up in the BS but that is a waste of time and money.

Thanks! I just wanted the valves not to get dirty. Figured the engine would run better and last longer with a catch can.

I'm not trying to criticize. The LT1/LT4 platform does not have this issue in stock or mildly modified form. It is not needed at all.

You can try a plastic epoxy to fix that piece but I would recommend reaching out to PRAY on Camaro6 forum and buying a ported LT1 intake manifold and TB combo( or at least the intake manifold). Easy 20rwhp and no tune needed. It's a really easy swap but if you are not mechanically inclined its a quick and cheap job for an experienced mechanic. There are guides online that are easy to follow.

Buying a ported unit from PRAY is almost the same price as buying a new one from GM but you get extra Horsepower. Also, ditch the catch can and return it if you didn't already install it. As I've said its a complete waste of money regardless of some of the religious followers you will find on the internet.

Hehe, I shall pray at the alter of PRAY rather than the religious followers of the CAN. Thanks again.

I have seen videos of people pouring out their catch cans though. So they are capturing some oil?

just plug it,find a cap and use a hose clamp with rtv.
or just straighten out the broken fitting and use a hose and clamp it with some rtv, if you wanna run the catch can still.

Thanks twostep361, but the ported intake manifold sounds more secure to me I might go with that option.

Just incase you are wondering about the need for a catch can ... there is no reason to use one on a LT1
I put and Edgy Vettes ported manifold on

And 15,000 miles later

Neat, thanks Dave. Unfortunately I was convinced watching people pour stuff out of their catch cans.

Buy a new intake manifold but sell the stupid catch can. 100% NOT needed; waste of money (plus cost you an intake manifold). 49k miles here and my intake valves are perfectly clean. These cans create more problems than they solve.

By the way the heat shield just pops right off but you have to have the intake off the engine to make the room.

Thanks!

Anyone know where I can find the torque specs for the intake manifold and throttle body?

Smart of the Corvette engineers to design it that way on the C7. Now that's using your noodle!
