Default Brake pad orientation

Have a set of Hawk Performance Ceramics on my Grand Sport. They have been on for about 600 miles. Now that I am driving with the top off and windows down, I notice a very slight repetitive sound, not quite a scraping noise at speeds above 25 mph from the drivers front wheel. I pulled the wheel and the rotor seems to spin freely. I did notice a little bit more of a wear pattern on the rotor as compared to the other side. Also the wear indicator on the outside pad on the drivers side is oriented down and the passenger side is up on the outside pad. Does it matter which direction they should go? Thanks

Hey RWC. Watch this video. Pad squealer orientation is important. Watch my man Ozztar in this video. Around the 8:00 mark he discusses pad orientation on his C7. It's a very good video if somebody wants to learn how to replace their brake pads correctly. Follow his method if you ever have high pitch brake squeaking. Lubrication on the right areas of the brake is a huge help to eliminate squeal.
