I recently purchased a set of rear diffusers for my c7 Corvette from CorvetteMods.com. I was not provided a template for drilling into the rear bumper, has anyone had this issue with CorvetteMods.com?
I have a method that I can use to transfer the holes from the diffusers to the bumper, however I would prefer to use a template - Any suggestions?
Dtom, thanks for your reply. Didn't realize that CorvetteMods.com had a bad reputation. Everything that I have ordered from them was as expected. I will keep that in mind for future purchases.
@Timscherer ...I installed rear diffusers from ACS. I ended up removing the rear lower valence to do so. Although I had the template (tossed in the garbage), I was able to line up the fins perfectly with the valence on the workbench. The template helped...somewhat. I ended up discarding it and used a tape measure. The fins are aligned along the contour of the valence. Try carefully sliding one of the fins around on the valence and you'll see what I mean. Good luck!
I also bought the diffuser fins from Corvette Mods as I wanted painted ones in Shark Gray. I wrote them and they said sorry, no template provided. Interestingly, the fins they sell are made by EOS (extremeonlinestore.com) and if you look on their website, they provide a template with their fins. I don’t understand why Corvette Mods doesn’t get the template for the EOS fins they buy and resell when EOS provides it. They gave me a hard time about it and so I will never again do business with Corvette Mods.
I sent a request to EOS for the template but they never responded - so F them too.
What I am going to do? I got some strips of vinyl sign stock from a friend who owns a sign shop. The vinyl has a sticky side after the tape is pulled. I will set the vinyl strip Non-sticky side on the mounting side of the diffuser fin with some small pieces of light tack painters tape and pierce the vinyl strip where the 3 screw holes of the fin are. Then I will locate the mounting positions on the rear valance of the car with a tape measure to ensure even spacing of the 2 fins going onto each side. I will remove the tape on the back of the vinyl strip attached to the fin and place the fin at the proper location mark on the valance so it sticks when I remove the fin. Finally I will drill the 3 mounting holes through the now transferred vinyl strip. This is my work-around for getting the mounting holes positioned properly before attaching the fins. Hope this helps.
