Can I remove this nut briefly without killing power?

I believe this is only used as a (+) for charging but im not certain.

That nut is always hot - fed from the 350 amp fuse on top of the battery.

From reports the nut is hard to remove without breaking the fuse box.

Why not slip a ring lug over the stud and add another nut? Be sure to fuse your new circuit and use appropriate size wiring.

I think I'll go this route. I have an in line fuse, 20 amp, that I will add a ring lug too. That wire is thick enough for my use. Only going to draw a couple of amps off of the nut. Do you know the thread size of the stud?

No, I don't know the size except it is likely metric. You my just have to try a few different nuts and find one that fits.

It would be a good idea to disconnect the battery cables if you are going to be messing around the stud very much.
