Default Driver side window issue

Hi guys and girls,

Ive had an intermmitent issue with the drivers window. Worked sometimes and didnt others. Now it is in the up position and won't respond to the switch. Passenger window is fine and both windows index when you open the doors no problem.

I got a replacement drivers door switch sent over, I'm in Scotland, and swapped it over today. Still non responsive.

Has anyone ever seen this issue before? Is there a separate fuse or relay for drivers window?

Thanks

If you haven't already, remove negative terminal from battery for a minute and reconnect it. See if that helps. After doing this you'll need to index the windows. It's in the manual and I'll post it when I find it. Found it.

Yes, disconnected the battery for 15 minutes. No joy.
No issues with the window indexing, it just doesn't go down when you use the switch. Its a 2015 M7 with 20k miles. Just started intermittent then stopped completely, hence thinking it was the switch.

That's puzzling. It responds to the open and close door event with that short motion, but not with the door switch, which you replaced. So it seems the fuse is good and motor is working. Someone very recently had a similar issue and the battery power reset did it. No idea what else to suggest. I don't think it's a fuse if the window does the short motion on opening and closing the door (I'm trying not to use the word index which they use in the manual for something else). I'd have to see the window open/close circuit to see why part of it works, and part of it doesn't.

This thread may help but it's the passenger side not the driver side like on yours. There are wiring diagrams.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...e-problem.html
.

Upon studying the wiring diagram in that thread (thanks to Moderator C5 Diag), it looks like the motor is controlled by the door switch and the computer data line. I assume the computer data line is sending the signal for the short motions on door open and close event. And it does look like the door window has two different fuses. One on the motor (30A) and one for the door switch (5A). Does the passenger window work from the driver side switch?

I posted a question you never answered (buried in my last "wordy" reply). I'll post it again below. I'm curious about this.

"Does the passenger window work from the driver side switch?"

Hi Joe,

Sorry, yes the passenger side works no problem from driver and passenger switch.

Ok that means both fuses are good. So weird that it does the short motion and but won't move via the switch. Wouldn't it not move at all if the regulator were bad? I'm not experienced with window regulators. When you say regulator do you mean the "Driver window motor" as shown in the diagram I posted? If so maybe the switch inputs failed on that device.

Sorry, yes the regulator is the whole part that includes the motor as well as the mechanism that holds the window glass.

Not had a chance to get into it more but a strange thing happened yesterday. Pressed the switch to put the window down through habit as I was working in a recycle plant to get rid of the smell and the window went down!! Not tried today. The joys of modern cars eh....
