Default Paddle Shift not working

As stated, I bought a rebuilt 2017 GS that blew the driver airbag. Car now drives great and has a magnuson 2650R on it with about 22000 miles. Problem is that the paddle shifters don’t work in D or M. Doesn’t work to shift up or down. My thought is that there is probably an issue with a the clock spring, so I went ahead and ordered one. Anything else I should be checking that would be a common issue? Other than that, I like the car very much.

Thank you,

I suggest verifying that the connectors are plugged into the paddles.

Be sure to keep your steering angle sensor in the same exact position (do not rotate it the "wheel" in it) when you remove it and move it to the back of the new clock spring. I'm sure you know your current SAS is calibrated to your car. I had to get a new clock spring and it came with an SAS attached to it because I bought it used. I removed the SAS on that unit and put my original SAS on and had no issues. Some say to put blue painters tape through and around the SAS to be sure nothing moves before you reinstall it.

Also, while some have had success, I do NOT recommend using an impact tool to remove the bolt holding your steering wheel - use a large breaker bar and give it constant pressure until it breaks loose. I used an impact and it turned into a nightmare that took out my clock spring which is how I know about all this now...

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best. I got the airbag and the trim ring off and I’ll be dipped……both unplugged and just laying there. It looks like there’s nothing that really holds them in either, like I don’t see a catch on the connector as with most electrical devices

Well, upon further review….looks like someone broke the clips off. I’m sure they will be good for the time being but I need a new steering wheel control harness for each side.

You should be able to purchase new connector shells , de-pin the originals and replace them, here is a place that has many automotive and motorcycle connectors on hand. Connector Kits, Terminals, Wiring, Tools | Corsa Technic

Edit, I noticed their website is offline today,12-15-24, their Facebook page says there is an issue with their domain name renewal process, they expect to have it fixed sometime Monday.

Thats a good website but not easy to search. I’m versed in de-pin/re-pin but I went ahead and ordered the harness for 50. If I can figure out which connectors are used, I’ll fix and recycle

I'll tell ya, it's always the electo-digitals on these cars. A guy can get so frustrated!

Glad you were able to figure out why the paddle shifters weren't working - the forum is a great asset when troubleshooting problem areas.
