Future Intake project
-MSD Atomic Air force
- Katech 103 mm Throttle Body
next purchase AMERICAN Racing Long tube headers and high flow cats. This will be a winter project (although the NC winter is so mild I can drive all 4 seasons) I don’t want to install the intake/Throttle body before the headers as I don’t want to have to do tuning and dyno twice. I would rather wait and do it all at once. Install, dyno tune, drive it. Thinking of going to RPM in Garner NC for the install and tuning.
I also picked up a throttle body coupler to do the plumbing back to the stock air inlet.
question, would cold air intake make much of a difference HP wise vs the coupler to factory air inlet? I see a Corsa cold air intake used for 1000 miles for $750. Just wondering if the ROI is there or not?
the throttle body is just dry fitted to intake so I could see how it would look.
ps: yes I have a flooring project on the books next week hence the flooring boxes 😂. They are stacked at a perfect height so no bending down to take pictures 😆
I have a fully built 416, 570 whp The tune optimized OEM throttle body vs tune optimized Nick Williams 103mm throttle body was a 10whp peak difference. Low and mid rpms were a wash.
The aftermarket CAIs have the same size tube as OEM. If you can find one that's larger then maybe it will matter a tiny tiny bit on a basically stock engine. GM was making 650hp through the same size tube and throttle body as the LT1. The Z06 does respond well to a CAI and throttle body. LT1.....meh.
