You need to do a code scan with a factory level scan tool to see what modules you can or can't communicate with.
Thanks. I’ve read a LOT of posts on recommended scan tools but unsure which would be considered ‘factory level’ and haven’t pulled the trigger and bought one.
what would be your current recommendation that (hopefully) won’t break the bank? Thanks again
Go to harness junctions one at a time wiggle them while the car is on and check for any changes could be a number of things but now since the battery is eliminated per your statement, I would look for a bad connection at a connector then move to chaffed wiring.
Beyond that? Youll need a wiring diagram and have to start one check at a time with differing relays fuses etc etc.
Sucks.
It's a C6 but watch this video OP. Low miles cared for. No start.
The dealership wanted to swap the instrument cluster had the car a month. Took this guy 2 days to track down the wiring issue.
Slowly but surely... I got the Autel scan tool C5 Diag recommended and here are 2 scans. First, as is- historic with ignition on and second after clearing codes and starting the engine. I didn't play too long last night as it was freezing but I ran some live data tests on the tire monitor system and saw actual tire pressures even tho the DIC shows no readings of any kind. I got a articulating borescope/endoscope camera but haven't found any frayed or chewed wiring so far/yet. Have checked all the fuses front and rear, all good. Slow going as I said... Sure would be nice to have a bigger, warmer garage and a lift I'm not a car expert but I've been a electronics technician/ computer systems engineer for 35 years working on large satellite tracking RF antennas and all the data processing and comms crap that comes with them... Def need wiring diagrams and suggestions on scan tool use to narrow things down. Thanks!
