Senior Badass!
I was really hoping for some sort of flat plane V8 technology. The same cross plane is geting old. It's really time to step it up!!

From comments I've seen concerning the new top-mount centri s/c, looks like it doesn't even need a new tranny to qualify as "unique power train". But who knows what they have in store?

You can do some very strange crank-timing on anything but to throw out the inherent balance of the V-8 would be out of the ? due to the balance shafts needed and the resultant exhaust note (prolly sound like a Viper )
Now I wish GM would give us a sequential gearbox, the best of all choices!!!

I know how flat-plane crank timing works on inline or boxer motors but not on a Vee.

The cross plane crank has definate balance arguments in its favor, the flat plane has definate power advantages int its favor. The vast majority of Vette drivers would not be amused at the amount of imbalance a 6.2 litre V8 would produce, although a few would worship the better sound and power.
No the cross plane crank is, has been, and will remain the mainstay of the large american V8s infinitely into the future.

I think it is going to get an auto. Maybe in year two. No dct...they are anachronisms waiting to be replaced with better technology. (am I going to be told how stupid I am or what)

Hey Batman, I love your avatar. My two grandsons are sitting in the same red mustang in a photo I took last week...theirs is used and faded though.

Does not make sense for a year 2. What would they have to gain by waiting and how many sales will they lose if only a stick in 15?

It is not what they would gain or not gain...I do not think it would be widely available initially. We have the constraints that have plagued the roll out of the c7 as an ongoing example. An 8 speed auto is going to be new and one built for a high horsepower car will not initially be available in large numbers. My opinion only.

Unique might be referring to the new DCT trans. Production is scheduled for late 2014 (I believe) so they have plenty of time, well sort of, to button it up.
Supercharged = unique? Maybe in a z06 but what if it's this centri blower thingy? That would be very unique!

I read a rumor that it might have a 150 HP electric motor integrated in the tranny to supplement the power.
probably a load of BS but it would be interesting on a track car. all that torque comes instantaneous and you would get some real benefit by brake regeneration around a track.
