I suspect that there are two different lenses that they have worked with? The ones on he early mules and the Z immediately above look blacked out, while the ones on the Shark Gray Z are clearly, well, clear. I don't think it is a trick of the lighting, although could be, as the photos from the dark lenses are also shot in show lighting in all of the photos I've seen.
I want the dark lenses, not the clear lenses, although it may be a regulatory design decision they are working through perhaps.
The two vert mules we saw at the factory in June also had the dark lenses, and they looked SO sharp and set the tail off.

Could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time, as thinking about it I've seen indications that there are only four Z show cars making the rounds. Dunno - but want the dark tail appearance for sure!

Scraping the splitter.
Here is a picture of the same car except with the lights lit:
I don't really like the clear taillights. Porsche is offering clear lenses on the 911's and IMO it looks really Altezza-like.

Taken without flash the rear lights don't look clear in this pic. But they are as your flash pic shows.
Clearly see the clear center wickerbill section that accompanies the Stage 3, Z07 option.

Noting the black lettering while the standard has chrome. Not that I care. Looks fine to me, but some may not like that on a black car. Looking forward to driving one. Umm, mistake... looking forward to driving mine!!!!

Yep... Interesting, as those were the first photos I've seen where they truly appeared clear. Even the two mules we saw at BG appeared smoked/dark in person.
Love the look!

Modifying the seat back shells would be cake. Paint them whatever color you want, or wait for Apsis to release a ten thousand dollar pair of carbon fiber skins for them. Either way, I like them with a smooth gloss back. Gives me options. Can't really modify 'em if they're faux-leather or fabric backed like they've always been.
Same goes for the tail lights. Leave them clear. If you want red ones, you're a 20 dollar sheet of laminex and 20 minutes away from that, or however else you'd prefer to tint them.
