ZO6 Z07 Wheel and Tire Problems! WTF??

Burning Brakes
I switched out my Sport Cups for Super Sports.... had it done at a tire shop that has high end equipment and does a lot of exotics and imports..and his techs have a lot of experience...they wanted a real warm day and got it done no problem.. but the guys told me even for them these tires are a beast to work with and it took them a few jobs to work out the bugs of getting them to seal......not a job for walmart or most chevy dealers for sure

The easiest way to do this is with Tire Snot (there are several brands). Usually comes in a 5 gal bucket, maybe smaller for some brands. It has the consistency of thick snot and helps the tire slide on the rim and seals the tire for inflation. It's a little messy to clean up but works great. There are some other thread on this with pics.

For the West Fernando area I have been going to Chatsworth Tire on Devonshire St. for a few decades. Great service and very competitive on prices and many of their employees have been there forever. I recently got a quote for the the run flat Super Sports for my Z06 (Z07 suspension) and they were a couple hundred dollars less then the dealer wanted just the for tires and theirs was mounted and balanced everything out the door.

Does anyone know for sure if you should replace one or both rear track tires if you get a nail in just one of them? Since they're my drivers I was told it is very important to replace both if you have allot of miles on them? Right now I have 1100mi?

check tread depth and if within 20% or so of new I would replace just the one.

The tire lube (or whatever you want to call it) is near impossible to clean up. So make sure you have them use the appropriate solvent to completely clean the tire and rim after mounting the rears. (the fronts normally don't require any). It will dry on the sidewall of the tire and become impossible to remove if you don't and will strip the clear from the rim if it is left on.

My tire shop got a small pneumatic tank, then took a hose and put it in the tire. Between the tank and the valve stem air supplies it was enough to get it seated.
It's all about air in greater than what leaks out.....after the bead sets, they pull the hose out.....

I have a zo6/7 and I took the psc2 off and put on the pss and I had the same problem everyone else is having. The sidewalk would not pop out. 4 hours. Finally they got a high pressure air tank and filled it up and shot it into the hole where it wouldn't seat right and finally after a couple tries it popped out. Also I am totally happy with the Pss's. Ride is better. Better in rain. And they don't wear as fast. And u don't have to heat them up to get traction. They should have made the psc2 a separate option aside from the zo7 package.

For the street the Cup2s don't need to be heated up. They have plenty of grip for the street. On the track they give a lot of grip after you take them up to triple digit speeds for a lap.
Best way to get them hot is to get the straight line speed over 100 asap. It doesn't take long after that for them to be at max grip and ready to handle corners at max Gs.

Trust me on this one. This is the trick, and the only sure-fire way of getting air in these. Don't bother w heating up, and using that Murphy's goop stuff. SERIOUSLY this is the trick. Sometimes it takes two spoons spaced out a little. This does not damage the rim in any way. There are plastic sleeves they can use on the spoons. YOU ARE WELCOME!
