Default Backup camera

Just picked up a 2016 Z06. Upgraded from a base 2014 C7 2LT.

Question: on my 2014, when backing up, the screen was filled with the image behind the vehicle. With the Z06, all 4 corners of the screen is blocked out. As if my fish eye lense has its eye partly closed.

Is this normal?
Can it be adjusted?

Hmm... have had my '16 Z for about 2 weeks now and have not noticed any "blockage" on the corners of the screen. I'll have a look when I leave work and will post a pic (from my phone) when I get home.

Now that I think of it, there was a "protective film" on the screen when I picked mine up that had some tape or something on the corners. Make sure you have removed this film.

I removed the protective film after delivery.
The screen works properly in every other function... radio, navigation etc.
The rear camera view acts as if the zoom is miss adjusted.
The view that is blocked in all 4 corners is equal.
And, there is nothing on the lens that I can see.
the back up image is nothing like the 2014 C7 I owned.

Next step would be taking it to the dealership.

I also don't see any of the "Guide" lines that indicate distance and where your vehicle is tracking to. I am going to see if I can find something in the infotainment settings. Something is goofy here.

The guide lines can be turned off or on through the settings page on the infotainment center. It might look " correct to you " when those are turned on so I would give that a try first before going back to your dealer.
Good luck.

Should have the guidelines on both front and rear camera's.. not sure if that might be part of the issue as I've always had mine on screen.

In the "Personalization menus".. select

Rear Camera
Select and the following may
display:

. Guidance Lines

Guidance Lines

Select to turn Off or On. See
“Guidance Lines” in Assistance
Systems for Parking or Backing"

Don't see anything in the manual about "blockage" of the camera..

Good luck!

I see the guide lines. My complaint is about the overall quality of the image and how the image is "fish eyed" to the enth degree and all 4 corners of the screen are cut out by the crappy camera and have no image.

I came from a 2014 stingray where the backup camera worked great. Picture was clear, color was good and the entire screen was utilized and proportional. This image looks like you are looking through a fisheye lense backwards.

This technology on this new Z06 Corvette looks 10 years older than the system on the 2014 Stingray I owned.

The service guy at the dealer called and and was told that this is a new camera and there are no other options. I asked about refitting with a 2014 camera ($170) and was told they could try it, but it would be on my dime.

Note: it is possible that this camera issue is only on the 2016's.

Major disappointment.

Best thing on the vette are the curb cameras. Without them I would probably damage the front splitter.

In previous post #8 you indicated you didn't have the guide lines.. thought if you didn't it might be related to that..

So not sure if you do or don't have the guide lines.

Sounds like you're having buyers remorse if this camera thing has you so worked up. Yes, your camera on your 14 may have been better or your camera on the Z is crap, but how often do you drive backwards using the camera. Go forward and enjoy the limits of the new car. When you put the pedal down, you will have a smile on your face and will forget the relatively unimportant camera.

Just take it to the dealership. If something is wrong it's covered under warranty. They will fix it for you.

No buyers remorse.
I am worked up about this, things should not get worse over time. GM screwed up big time on this. My Ford Focus back up camera works way better. That should not be.

I just do not understand why on cars like this the folks at GM have decided to go backward? It is something that will irritate me every time I put it into reverse.

My next thing to do is find out if the 2014 camera will fit.

When you were at the dealership, did you look at a 2016 camera image? My Z is a 2016 and it seems fine to me. I haven't compared it to a 2014.
