No level 2 the summer.
Finally, GM developed / tested cooling solutions at SP. Ron Fellow is at SP once a month for the purpose of testing new components / tires for Corvette. He told us back in April to expect new C7's to do well in 100F ambient at the track. His test Z06 had harness bar, slicks. We watched him running some hot laps in between school sessions.

SP instructors said they manage the heat. L1 and Corvette owners school is easy on the car. Lead follow in 3rd and 4th gear. Some fast students did overheat some cars. Also, most students are given manual cars which don't generate heat as much as an automatic.
No level 2 the summer.

Someone posted pics of Grand Sport M7 having GMPP secondary radiator from the factory as Jermey confirmed. I have 2017 Z07 on order and I was going to order GMPP and have it installed when the car arrive but my dealer told don't since it already have it from the factory.

Sorry, but I have to ask. Was over in the C7 section, and someone just came back from Spring Mountain and mentioned that it was 110 degrees on the track.
I would assume that this is about the hottest weather condition for any track that Corvettes are raced in.
Does the Ron Fellows school do anything to the stock Z51's or Z06's to avoid the overheating that members are experiencing? The C7 poster mentioned that they had both M7s and A8s for the school.
Just a thought and no flames please!!!!

Also, I was in the 'fast' group and we had to stop/slow down on the main straight a few times to give ourselves more separation from a preceding group.

If you look closely at the photos of the car from the rear(where you can see the rear of the hood at the cowl), you can easily see that the camo'd hood is not the same hood as found on the stock Z06.

I'm fine with the 2017 Z06 receiving the cooling improvements with no cosmetic changes as I like the current looks. I think the 2018 ZR1 will be the final fanfare for the C7 with the mid-engine C8 coming in either 2019 or 2020. That would give the C7 a 6 or 7 year generational run which is what GM hinted to originally in that the C7 would be shorter than the C5 (8 years) and C6 (9 years).
Interestingly, both the C5 and C6 generations had very limited cosmetic changes outside of wheels and color options. Whenever anything drastic was introduced, it was introduced as a new model (C5 coupe, C5 vert, C5 FRC, C5 Z06) - (C6 coupe, C6 vert, C6 Z06, C6 Grand Sport, C6 ZR1).
I think the C7 generation is following the same development model.

I think it will be announced at the Detroit autoshow in 2017 as a 2018 model. It goes in line with the earlier reports.

I bet GM will have the 2018 Z06 use some of the ZR1 parts however. It's a smart way to do it if you think about. No one will say those are parts that should have been on the Z06 to begin with. GM will say "hey look, you get ZR1 parts on a Z06, you get more than you bargained for." If they introduce the parts as 2017 Z06 updates you can see how '15 and '16 owners would be pissed. GM defines the benchmark not based on performance but based on trim levels and model lines. Clever.

Nice pics. Good to see there are some 2017 Z06s at Carlisle. Any additional detail on the cooling improvements being provided by GM? On the Carlisle FB page there is a video of a cut-away Z06 and I wonder if it's a 2017 showing the changes...
