Default LG Motorsports Super Pro C7 Headers FAQ and more!

Hi all,

We get a lot of calls about our headers every day about what might be right for me and my car, or what all comes with your header kit?

So I thought this would be a good time to go over what is in a LG Motorsports Super Pro kit as well as what options you have.

FAQ
1. Can I get high flow cats with your kit?
A. Yes you certainly can. Unlike some other kits we have made ours to be modular so you can replace your cats, install off-road pipes, or upgrade an off-road system later without having to purchase the entire X pipe.

2. Can I use my stock mufflers?
A. Yes all of our kits are designed to work with OEM or OEM replacement mufflers including Corsa, Borla, B&B, and Akrapovic jsut to name a few.

3. Can I add cats later?
A. Yes you sure can. We keep cats in stock and you can always add them in at any time buy just purchasing the cats

4. Do you include gaskets?
A. Yes all of our Super Pro systems come with GM gaskets to provide the best seal at no extra cost.

5. Do you include 02 extensions or do I need to buy them?
A. Yes 02 extensions are included with every set!

6. Do I need to tune my car?
A. With any long tube header you should always tune for the best performance but it is ok to drive the car to a tuner if you are doing the install yourself.

7. Which header is right for me? Stepped or 1 7/8?
A. For most NA builds we like to use the stepped version for more torque production. We have seen on average about 10 more ft-lbs with the stepped headers on NA and cam/head packages with these headers. Forced induction cars should use our 1 7/8 systems.

8. Do I need special plug wires or heat shields?
A. No, you can use your stock wires and metal heat shields with our headers with no issues. We do offer extra protection shields however if you would like.

9. Do you offer coated headers?
A. We can have any of our systems coated by Jet Hot coatings in any number of colors and finishes that they offer. We do not stock them this way but can offer this to you.

Finally. Like all LG headers, these are covered with a limited life time guarantee against any defects to the original buyer.

Your dyno sheets show gains on a NA C7, what about the C7 Z06? I am considering these on my 2016 and thought a road trip to your place in TX would make for a nice mini-vacay!

I'll see if I can find a M7 car, but this was the last one of the last ones we did on a 2015 A8 auto car. No other changes but the headers with cats and tune. Stock air box, dyno pull in 5th gear.

I have a 2016 A8 with a Halltech in place along with a ported TB. I assume that it's best to let you tune it at the same time as the install to get the most bang for the buck?

Both of these are related and I'll try to answer using a general answer and go into detail.

Yes, I completely believe a car needs to be tuned to run correctly after modifications, and the more mods you do to the engine the more it is not going to run correctly. So not only to get the most from it but to also make sure the car is running safely and correctly.

I'll reply back with, why would you run it without tuning? Yes we have ran the cars with the stock tune in them and headers. They do tend to run a bit "off" on A/F. This is not something I would suggest any of our customers do to insure the car is safe to drive hard day in and day out. So if you see me post results from a modification done, it is going to be tuned unless stated other wise. I would never risk a customer's car by not tuning it.

Now that being said, there is some power in the tune, but there is more power in making sure the car is running correctly. Will the headers pick up power just by themselves, yes.

From our first 2015 Z06 M7 car....no tuning, just bolting the headers on the car and stock air box this is approx what you would see but the car did lean out a bit in the mid range above 13:1 so again...not something I would suggest a customer do.

Impressive.

Is 40+whp for long tubes + tune pretty standard for C7Z?

My '15 Z06 with LG longtube headers, Halltech, CAT delete plus tune yielded me 613 rwhp and 635 ft lbs. They have great sound..........I would make this change again!

we have not tried that, but I know on the older C6 setups it was not possible because the length of the headers pushed it past the stock connection. I am sure it could be done with some modifications but, as a bolt up part, I do not believe so.

Now that, yes you can do. All of our header systems are designed as a replacement right up to the stock mufflers as a bolt on kit. So that being said, any slip on/rear section kit from Akrapovic/Borla/Corsa/B&B.....will tie right in with zero modifications.
