If you go to out more help page on out Rid-A-Rat.com you can find some alternate suggestions of ways to keep mice out of cars and other areas.
Rodents love to build nests in b-b-q's. They eat wires in pool and hot tub motors, tractors, ATVs, lawn mowers, and even golf carts!
We recommend that a major important thing to do if you find a rodent has been in your car have the rodent's urine scent removed with an enzyme-based deodorizer. Urine scent sends a signal to the rodents that other rodents have been there and it is a safe place to live. We suggest after cleaning the debris and nest material from the area, spray it with a live enzyme urine remover. For the simple ease of finding such a product we recommend a product called PURPLE POWER. It can be found at Walmart in the automotive supply department. We carry an item called Biokleen as well that does the same thing.

We have car dealers that carry our products and many service stations. There is still a debate over the face that rodents go for soy. We have heard of class action law suits second hand and heard that soy oil is use in some cars to pull wires...still no real evidence.
Soy was not involved in the chewing of our tractors or the nest building in our grill.
We have several National Parks that recommend and use our products.
We are sold in about 200 stores so far, on Amazon and our web site Rid-A-Rat.com
We try to keep our products in small Ace like hardware stores and service stations were people still get service. Our product works about 99% of the time (there are always determined rats who will not give up, particularly females about to drop a litter) but they are 100% guaranteed. If they don't work for you we offer a full refund.
We are always looking for more dealers.
Our website has tons of information on it's more help page.

If you can find out were the rodent got in you can use 1/4 inch hardware cloth to try and keep them out or place a Rid-A-Rat device in the area. They have magnetic mounts and for plastic-based chassis or other non-magnetic surfaces we have stick-on metal brackets.

I really love our Have a Heart traps. They last for ever and we don't even bate them, you can get ants. We just place them up against the wall were the rats run or up against the garage. Try and check often in the warmer months so the animal isn't suffering in the trap too long. You can get other critters in a trap that you may not want to get rid of.
Poisons, unfortunately, rats can develop an immunity to. They also have a terrible secondary kill rate, often in the form of pets.

I purchased this item for all the cars I owned at that time. This product did not work for me. In one of the cars I found droppings and pinion shells right next to the device. Similar activities in a different car next to the device. I eventually took them all out of my cars and like I said before open the hood about 10 to 12 in is only thing that worked for me for just under the hood compartment.
Dryer sheets did not work for me whatsoever found rodent droppings and shells everywhere in the cars I use dryer sheets in.
I eventually sold half of my cars and bought the ZO6. I keep the ZO6 at my fiance's house away from my country house
I had a mouse get into my car while it sat at the DEALERSHIP LOT and ate the power seat harness. The dealer wouldn't even cover the labor, even though it happened there! I know the seat worked when I dropped it off because I'm tall and the valet dude had to adjust the seat to take it, so...
Years ago when I Had my 09' ZO6, I saw a rat try to get into the garage. My landscaper had told me to get the tree trimmed between me and the neighbors because he heard they had a rat prob and the rats would travel from house to house via the tree. So I did and also put rat poison tablets in the shrubs around the house. I also put the sonic rat away high pitched plug-ins in the garage and have ever since. I saw those in a relatives house in the mountains upstate (keeps the critters out). Never saw a rat again and have used those in my new home's garage. Got them at home depot/lowes.
I use a combination of baited traps and poison bait after my 2006 GMC 2500HD got attacked a few years ago (mice thought the under hood electrical center was a urinal but they didn't attack the wiring).
The busy time is when the surrounding corn and bean fields are harvested and for a couple of weeks I will catch 3 to 6 mice in that time period. The old fashioned baited traps are a pain but they work well and there is no worry about dead rat smell from one who eats poison and dies in an enclosed area. For me the poison bait is a backup plan and it is rarely disturbed and when it is only a couple of bites are gone. I replace it twice a year. The small expense and bother is much less than the cost and hassle of dealing with rodent damage.
Seriously folks this can be a real issue, and not just for folks who live near wooded areas. I live in a heavily populated suburban area just outside of Dallas and have had major issues with both my company car and my Chevy Silverado tow vehicle. Fortunately have not had the issue with either of my Corvettes but have taken measures to hopefully prevent that. By the time you realize you have the problem you can be looking at literally thousands of dollars in damage - given the intense electronic presence in the C7 and especially the Z06 I can't even imagine the cost of replacing the wiring harness?
If these folks have a solution can potentially prevent that, I'm IN!
I’m in Michigan and also live in a wooded area. I use Mothballs under the hood and around the car in storage, seems to work.

We are sorry to hear the product did not work. Unfortunately, dealing with animals can be very unpredictable, especially hormonal females about to drop a litter. We do fully guarantee our product, if it does not work for you we always offer a refund, just return it to your place of purchase. We're not here as a gimmick to take people's money. The product was created to solve a problem in our own cars and it seemed to work so we expanded to try and help others with similar problems.
Quick question, did you clean out the engine compartment with a descenting agent prior to mounting the units as outlined in the instructions? Rats will mark an area as "safe" and "good for feeding", if the scent is not removed they will follow it back, ignoring discomfort and danger to do so.
