Default Is this acceptable?

If you read my other threads my engine is being replaced. I went by today and this is what I see. Rags on fenders that fall of easy. Things all over my windshield, and items on my wheels. What would you say/do? Should I be upset bc I am.

A person's ability to stay tidy and organized while working is a direct reflection of the work they do in my opinion. If my guys did anything like that I would rip their ***. Just my two cents.

As long as they don't cause any cosmetic damage and everything is fixed correctly, I wouldn't worry too much about it. This is exactly why I wouldn't want to "check-in" on my mechanic working on my car.

This could have been their way of staying organized. Who knows... I hope you don't have any problems.

A comment below this one, almost defends this... However... When working on my families vehicles or personal vehicles... everything has its spot, away from the car, and is labeled.
I have a simple two car garage and not a full shop and can maintain everything in a fairly small area. So I agree with @Cordes Performance Racing in the assessment. I just hope outside of the few pictures shown, there is an abundance of organization.

Looks like an organized mess. I work this way daily. As long as he knows where everything is and you have no issues I wouldn’t worry about it. Only thing I may have done differently is a blanket on the windshield. Being a mechanic is messy. If one is working in a timely manner one would waste a lot of time trying to be neat and tidy. At home it’s a bit different as one has all the time in the world.

Looks like the stuff piled on the windshield would bend your wipers.

When I am doing major work on my cars I place things on the windshield but I put a large towel down first.

I wouldn’t be happy but I would be diplomatic in my comments. I would ask that they not place item on the car unless it’s covered. Hope you have pics of the car before it went in there in case they do scratch or damage something. I try not set things on the car or on the ground but I’m a bit **** about my stuff.

Did you all notice how the supercharger lid is on my wheel? Stock tire with wheel installed. I think that got me the most as my wheel could be easily scratched.

Tire is a safe place usually, better than the floor. But if there are open ports, I will always shove some paper towels into holes. I see alot of open holes and exposed injectors I think which could use some protection, plastic wrap, some kind of towel wrap. I never leave stuff just open. Trash can fall right into those big open holes and exposed fragile tips of say injectors could easily be bent or broken by a careless movement. Not to mention if those lines contain fuel resting on the cowl it might leak out onto the paint or plastic there. The open holes and protection for parts is bigger to me than the placement.

Unless I had a nice shop, I would take advantage of what space i have. I see this as an alternative to laying it on the floor, but I guess I am not a certified mechanic.

Overall nice mix of responses. Maybe I’m overreacting. I’m glad I asked you all made me feel better about it. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt as this just may be the way he works best. Once it’s all done I’ll inspect for cosmetic issues. Car should be ready next week we had to order a few misc parts that we are waiting on. Will let you all know how it all works out.

I'd be pissed! Theres 20lbs of parts on top of your wipers and windshield, 50lb supercharger on your wheel.

I would not consider this to be a professional job. All removed parts should not be stacked on your windshield. The fenders should be covered in plastic with padded covers. This looks like a high school project to me! Just my $.02.

just wow, yeah not acceptable just in terms of using other areas of car as a table, regardless of if it causes damage. its just not a good look. and rags on fenders is not cool for a shop. the plastic wrap stuff is what i would want to see.
by the looks of it i doubt they will even clean the windshield off, but who knows, maybe they will fully detail the car after done.................................... ......
