Apparently, Jim Mero was the driver and the C7 ZR1 was an 8-speed paddle shift automatic running on Michelin Sport Cup 2's (summer only tires)

Not much comment on the time itself but the driver wasn't pussyfooting it around the track.

I was more impressed by the driver than the car.

Man that's fast!

I'm really hoping they take this to the Ring and give a time there.

Had a couple of moments at the beginning of the lap, but it was a very smooth run after that.

Really didn't expect that big of a difference between the Z06 and the ZR1 - awesome lap!

I got laughed off the Ford GT Facebook page saying the ZR1 was going to beat the Ford GT time.

Maybe the best sounding factory exhaust I've heard.

http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...ir-lap-record/

The driver, vehicle dynamics engineer Jim Mero, is known for his mastery of the Nurburgring behind the wheel of Chevy products. If anyone was going to break the record, it would be him. Chevy was keen to note that Mero is an engineer, not a pro-driver, which was definitely a dig at Ford, which set the record using Ford GT race driver Billy Johnson.

Ouch!!

As do I.

Those MPH suggest a low 50's time is not only a possibility but a reality. I am not sure I have ever seen 170 on the front stretch? Nor have I seen in the 150's into the esses.

You may see 53's or so is my guess.

If it proves reliable an M7 looks to be in my future as well.

In 0.9 seconds everyone will be showing up to say how much better the C6 ZR-1 is... It's more authentic, a true corvette, has round tail lights. Whatever....

Epic, I want this thing!
