They can not or will not accept the fact that out of the box, the car is significantly faster and more capable on a road course than a Z06, and it is doubtful any have even had their cars on a road course for other than parade laps or the annual NCM events as permanent novice drivers.

2.5 seconds at the limit is huge on a road course, especially VIR Grand.

When very fast and capable drivers show them they are wrong, they resort to posturing and projection.

i agree I can’t wait for mine and also for videos of records being smashed plus that untapped 2650 is going to be sweet.

Remember that is for each lap. I would bet in lap traffic the ZR1 would even be better since you could hold a line down low at higher speeds. Anyways it doesn't matter the ZR1 is better looking and has a nice fat wing! Plus the ZR1 WILL ALSO SEPERATE MANY OF US AS BEING AFFORABLE.

I am a Z06 owner and I am not upside down on my car(not that it matters, don't plan on selling anytime soon) and I don't have the desire to buy a ZR1. The Z06 is such a fast car that I didn't even feel the need to modify it. I have had it almost 3 years and it still impresses me. I just bought a 2018 Hellcat to tool around in and it's nice having a fast car that I don't have to worry about going over potholes and speed bumps. It would have cost more money to trade my Z06 in for a ZR1 then it would to add the Hellcat, doesn't seem like a great idea to me. I also don't make a living racing either.

Not taking away from anyone who has or wants one. It is supremely amazing. I just don't think it has the got to have it factor, especially given the price. Time will tell if there is a huge market for it. That being said, I can't wait to see one in person. The orange is super cool, and I like the spoiler.

Same thing happened with C7 < C7 Z51 < C7 GS < C7Z < ZR1 Like previous posters mentioned I know were dealing with alot people that traded up from a C7 (whatever model) too early and now they're upside down.. lol sorry but not sorry There's a new king on the block that wont overheat on the first lap and lose the race and that's the ZR1. Sucks that GM didn't address the issue (They tried) but it's a fact that with the ZR1 they did, ts a cold hard stab in the back.

Awesome comparison!

I want to address this comment that my post was designed to "stick my thumb in the eye of Z06 owners." I am a Z06 owner and have owned one since December 2014. In fact, I have been a staunch defender of the Z06 when the "Internet wisdom" was that it was a terrible track car because it was too heavy, was supercharged, couldn't be tracked in hot weather. I remember the gnashing of teeth about what a failure it was when it first came out because it lost a roll race to a Viper.

I spent much of the last 3+ years tracking the heck out of two Z06s and posting real data and my personal experiences to dispel the hysteria surrounding the Z06. I've run nearly 75 days and almost 150 hours on track in those two cars. In fact, I am a much better driver today than 3 years ago because I had something to prove about the capability of the C7 Z06.

Now here we are, the first couple ZR1 have hit the street and history is repeating itself. This forum is full of people complaining that it should've been faster in the 1/4 mile, or should've been faster in the mile. Neither of those are what this car was designed to do, this is designed to be the king of the hill on the road course and I wanted to post some very clear data of just how superior it is for the folks that don't think it's much of a difference. I have close to 4000 laps around VIR in a C7 Z06 and hitting 170 on the front straight is RIDICULOUS!

I am not saying that the folks hating on it are doing so because they wish they could buy a ZR1 but I'm also going to admit that I tried really hard to talk myself out of getting one as well (and the same was true of the Z06). In the end though, I wanted a chance to see what the ultimate front-engine Corvette, and possible the ultimate manual transmission Corvette can do.

I am truly blessed to have the means at this point in my life to take a $70K hit for that opportunity and I am going to take everyone along for that ride as best I can. I hope you all enjoy it.

It's funny to listen to the haters/dislikes, although most of my life if it didn't say Chevy in my mind it was junk, but there are MANY nice cars, and now in my garage dodge, chevy, Porsche and others all live in peace and love. Some Z06 owners are almost hostel to ZR1's, not me ordered a coupe and convertible to go with the Z06, just keeping peace and love in the garage. Thanks for the post Poor-sha

4,000+ laps at VIR!

Mon Dieu!

I did a back of napkin calculation and came up with around 2,800 laps for me but I think the number is closer to 2,000.

I can't wait to see the ZR1 in person running in it's natural environment (a road course) with a good driver behind the wheel!

The buttnuts thrashing the car because it didn't live up to their expectations in endless hypothetical variations of straight line exhibitions of speed are comical.

170+ down the front straight at VIR is insanely fast but I was more impressed with the entry/exit speed in the climbing esses, which indicated how much road-holding capability the ZR1 has (like the 2017 Viper ACR)...

I have a 2018 Z06 Z07 3LZ 7-speed that I thought long & hard about buying after my 2015 Z51 3LT 7-speed met the T10 tire wall at VIR in October. In the end, I'm glad I purchased it, but part of me regrets not waiting for the ZR1.

Heya Sean. Thanks for posting these up and as always thanks much for continued support and dedication to driving Corvettes on the track and at the limit, and then breaking down the data for us to compare.

I also am a track rat in both my C6Z and C7Z and always find your posts extremely useful, very informative and insightful. Additionally, I sincerely appreciate the time you take creating the youtube videos.

There will always be individuals like we see right here in this thread (and who are known trolls) that will criticize just about anything, mostly in order to self-rationalize their own decisions and bring other people down. They literally go into every single ZR1 post they can find and repeatedly insult the car. It says more about them than anything else. Please do not feel the need to respond or explain yourself to them. It isn't needed. It only brings you down to their troll level (and then they will beat you with experience).

Keep up the good work!

Here we go again, same thing different generation ZR
The car is A BEAST for a fraction of the cost of the Foreign super cars.
Those who don't comprehend seconds or fractions of seconds in racing don't get it.
Your money your car but nothing makes a negative impression more than the haters of the next better model.
Or the Waxers who buy the car knowing little about it just to show up at cruise Ins inflating their ego
I've had the C6 ZR, and C7Z. Excited to see what my C7 ZR Will do both at the track, road course and cars and coffee.

I too can't wait until you get your new car. When are you expected to actually have it in your possession?

You are a great contributor to the forum providing us with information that is relevant and based on fact, not speculation. Thanks for that!

Seeing these speed comparison snapshots all in one place is great!!

That's Steve. My goal is to have it ready for the NCM VIR event at the end of June. We'll see if it gets here in time.

I'm headed to VIR now for my final outing with the Z06.

I'm just going to say right now that the ZR1 is a really cool car, and I'm not going to ever spend the money. And that's okay. There's always a faster car the way I see it.

To replace my C6 I'll either run a C7GS with a 427ci engine, or a C8 Z51.

Good luck at VIR. Hopefully you get cool, clear days and 55's are in your near future there? Good way to send off the car at VIR!!
