This is the third Z I have had Akrapovic exhaust on, all their full system, and while the ZR1 does not have the miles, and has been on a non stop traveling show living in a trailer since I got it, my other two Z06's never showed any signs from heat damage. I could see it being a problem even with the stock exhaust if you lived in Vegas or Zona, just a lot of heat funneled under the car

Do we know the exact weight savings with akra vs zr1 stock exhaust? Bear in mind the zr1 exhaust is heavier than z06 due to additional measures they had to take to cope with the heat.

TECHNICAL DATA AKRAPOVIC EVOLUTION SYSTEM

Stock vs Akrapovic

Wt: 63.9 lbs vs 38.4 lbs

measured with: Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C7) 2014 so with Stock ZR1 exhaust being heavier, a significant weight savings with the Akra Titanium System.

Hope that helps my friend....

Here's the technical information from Akrapovic just scroll down thru it. Suggest you ask hcvone and debzr1 for performance gains. Its lighter, faster and looks/sounds incredible.

Around $5800 full or $1000 less for axleback. They are way too expensive for sound (and I am obsessed with sound). I m sure I will eventually pay for one though.

There’s more to them than just sound, weight reduction, enhanced performance, carbon fiber tips, annoying your neighbors,
bad azz BEAST mode beyond belief. I thought it was a bit pricey when I 1st heard of them , then after hearing it non stop on my friends C6ZR and C7Z I had to Get one. The sound is like no other.

Deb,

did you get the full system or just muffler? What does the full system provide over muffler besides weight savings? I guess it deletes secondary cats so some power and torque gains there.

I have the Akrapovic But for the loudest possible sound I believe the Corsa Extreme in the way to go and less expensive

I laughed at people for years paying that for an exhaust, and then drove one with Akrapovic, it's been on my last 2 Z06's, and is on my ZR1

Full system, includes the Xpipe. Noticed immediate power gains and running at lower RPMs/

Maybe louder but not the same as Akra for many reasons. Akra has a very distinctive sound.

Questions:

- Do you retain the stock functionality to control the flaps across four stock modes (stealth, tour, sport, and track)?
- The akra website mentions that there is an additional controller that akra built which integrates with the driving modes (and the website mentions 5 modes but zr1 has only 3). How does this work exactly? Is it a wireless controller that you press buttons or do you have to do wiring work while doing the install?

Thanks

Hey UE Akra is one of the few that you do not lose the flap control functionality. Hmmmmm, maybe Gerry CW4L can answer the 5 mode thing, there were some changes Z->ZR , I have not looked at all the controls Everything is controlled through the sound management in your infotainment center just like normal I just put it in track and leave it , Neighbors love me

You buy it for the sound, light weight, built in valves, exclusivity, carbon tips, bragging rights, etc..
