Nobody dares say anything negative about the photo in the Chevy Marketing Department. It is better to let the company go down in flames than lose your job.

Here is the door seam line I believe. Notice, the scoop sticks out much further AFTER the door seam.

What we are seeing on the test mules is the panel going all the way out to the scoop from the start at the door.

The real triangle on the door is much smaller.

And if that is the bottom panel i drew the line on, and not the panel for the door handle... then understand, the scoop, which is shown at its top... does NOT extend forward towards the door (or at least not much anyway)

The perspective of the CAD is very oblique and does not show the door or upper body. .....this is the way the CAD image overlays on the car.

We can not glean anything about the door handle area from the CAD since the door is not shown, but we can estimate the shape and size of the actual side intake... but not necessarily the outer treatment.

The real question is it a stick or an automatic?

Top edge of the intake still comes back to the car, before the door seam. Doors are not going to have that huge triangle, theres no way, not from my perspective.

Don't look at the "triangles" as something stuck on the door, look at the area underneath them as being scooped out, or narrowing in and it's left the fender peaks carrying into the door hanging there. The way the top fender lines flow into the doors (front and rear) resembles the C6 a lot.

i agree, but the triangle is still not as big as what GM is showing us.

Lets face it, theres 3 options:

Triangle is bigger in real life.
Triangle is same size in real life.
Triangle is smaller in real life.

So, which do you think GM's camo team accomplished? They cant go smaller with the camo/fake panels. If they go the same size, they aren't "concealing its signature design feature".

Only option left is they had to go bigger with the camo/fake panels. And that of course means the real one is smaller.

To me it is pretty simple, but others will tell me im wrong, so i kind of gave up arguing. 3 months will show this simple reality I explained above.

On another thread a blowup of this winglet was posted. See below. It looks to me like layer upon layer of camo with some type of cobbled up door switch under it. I would hope that the would not go in production with something that appears this badly engineered. To me this is all fake, the winglet, the latch, all of it. I am now of the school that none of the scoop will be on the door. What we see is all fake.

Whatever and however GM/Chevy executes for the scoop, I HOPE THEY RETAIN THE STINGRAY essence of form. The front side fender vents on the c7 + nose and rear sides are key to that on the current model. For the ME, I hope they are just hiding the C8 'Stingray' styling elements and it's not a case of 'they are not there or poorly executed because I don't seem them on the mules.

I agree.

Time will tell how it is all finished.

C7 pimp said it "resembled" the LaFerrari from a "frontish" angle and the scoop "did" begin on the door...like the LaFerrari.

...ahhh.... memories!

I would make the handle part of the triangle less steep, and then as soon as it meets with the scoop at the door seam, the scoop angle dives much more severe after the seam

Where did the "original render" come from? Who was the artist?

This is the closest one of the bunch, to how i think the handle will be. Thin and small, long and sharp

i did. Pimp tried to “correct” it. He said he could not quite get the perspective right.

I agree the scoop will be much more refined and homogeneous with the design but will have an overhang.
