C8 problems
#261
How prevalent do we think those paint issues are by the headlights? I cancelled my C7Z order and went BMW last year instead for that purchase but I was hoping the C8 fixed bubbly/flaky paint. I am dismayed to see it still happening.

Paint quality? How about the panels interlocking and not still doing this?
See that above? I saw that on a "preproduction" car revealed at Kerbeck. Got my head ripped off because it was a preproduction car.. it will not be that way for the sorp.... ok. I posted the video and said i hope they fix this. As it was a problem on my 08.... i got lucky on my C7Z... but it's annoying. Here we are 3rd gen same issue.
That's the point of the video.

Sheesh, yeah I recall you posting when you went to that event and folks' reactions. I know some people don't care because it's all about performance for them but on a car you can option up to 100k fitment and paint bubbling aren't something you want to worry about. Hopefully they get their act together (but I guess I shouldn't expect them to).

That's not good... I can't believe there's no safety catch like a normal hood. I'm guessing that will change on later models.
@cwmobley did you hit the release with your knee or hand? Was the FOB in your pocket and pushed? The release should be disabled at speed... please keep us updated.

Here's a guy with both the even/odd tranny problem and an engine coolant leak. Seems like this is the first engine coolant leak I've heard of. He's also complaining about the "horrible" paint job. Not sure why he took delivery if the paint was that bad??? He's got 80 miles on the car.

I noticed that if you push lightly on the front hood there is a "clicking rattle". It's fully latched and locked - my guess is that there is a bumper pad to adjust to keep it from moving too much. Not a big deal - overall I am amazed with this car - the technology, the ride, the power - everything so far.

I hate to be a smart ***, but here goes. For my retirement job I worked for Porsche in sales for five years. Do you know how many problems we had with new cars? Exactly Zero!

Possibly this is why YOU yourself are not aware of issues on Porsche.... and next, you will tell me that your service department only did oil changes and NEVER repaired a single car under warranty, Exactly ZERO..... DUH .
So I hear that Porsche offers an extended "warranty" service contract for only $1 since they never have to pay out.
and, BTW, there is NO SUCH thing as a Porsche ever getting "lemon lawed " since they never have problems as you say.
Google "porsche buy back lemon law" !!

C8,,,
Bowling Green was shut down, UAW Union Strike, 5 plus weeks
Plant reopen, another complicated startup with rescheduling material deliveries ETC..
Bowling Green was shut down, CHINA C-16 Virus,, this plant 2k plus workers out of work AGAIN.
Plant partial reopen, another complicated startup, partial first,,, with rescheduling material deliveries ETC..
The C8 is nearly a 100% new design, One small bracket from a C7 was used - It's a tradition.
The C8 is a Mid Engine the first even in the USA.
I read about many small issues and some programming Bugs.
I'm not going to criticize the management and assembly Tech's at Bowling Green,, they've already got a tough job and rough circumstances.
JMHO,
Michael.

Safety Car
My brother has owned Porsche's for all his life, 62. Every new Porsche he owned had issues. Most recently, the transfer case in his Macan. The transfer case was replaced three times because the second time Porsche used the same faulty transfer case. Finally, Porsche redesigned the third transfer case, he is crossing his fingers.
I owned a 2003 BMW M3, the crank bearing tolerances were to tight and a recall to replace the bearings were issued. For those who had the recall done early, resulted in spun bearings because BMW continued to use faulty bearings. Apparently, the supplier's bearings were out of spec. Finally, the new bearings with the correct tolerances resolved the issue.
Does that make Porsche and BMW bad cars? No, sometimes suppliers manufacture faulty or out of spec parts. It is part of the auto industry and quality control tries to catch it before it reaches the customer.

Now that C8s are starting to roll out, I thought it might be good to start a single thread of issues people have noticed, however big or small they may be, to raise awareness for what other members should look for and what GM can continue to improve upon. I’m hoping this can be made into a “sticky” to find it easily and requesting everyone to please keep it positive and not bash GM, Chevy, or the dealers and not to compare any issues to other manufacturers as that wouldn’t be helpful to any of us.
Some issues that have been noted so far...
Passenger window started going up and down by itself while driving. Crazy. Any idea what going on . Goes back to service tomorrow. Vehicle is sweet though
Transmission leak?
Weak axle?
Granted it broke drag racing with nitrous, so maybe well deserved, but a warning to those who are considering mods

Please see my original post above when I started this thread. Please recognize the intent and the value to your fellow members. There are many other threads on this great forum to discuss or argue other topics. Let’s leave BMW, Porsche, Vector, Fiero, etc. out of this. Let’s keep this thread on track....please...and thank you.

When I decided to be an early adopter and order the 2020 Corvette I knew there would be issues. I could have waited until year 2 but there was no way of knowing if there might be other problems with the 2021. It is still disappointing to see the problems that have shown up but the car is so good many of us are probably happy we still got it. I am.
