My C8 had the opposite problem described by some... my frunk will NOT open. VIN 16288 (mid-November build), car was delivered on "Black Friday", November 27th. Everything was perfect with the car (Z51 HTC, 3LT, mag shocks & lift). Deal closed exactly as had been agreed upon when I ordered the car in January. When I got the car home, I did notice the passenger side roof trim did not fit well, as had been described by other Forum members, but I figured I would let the dealer's service folks address that when I needed other service.
Well, I didn't have to waite too long to NEED service. About a week ago, I went to access the frunk and none of the buttons to actuate the frunk would open the hatch. Headlights flashed (as they should) but no popping of the frunk. The computer however 'thought' the frunk had been released and set the "open frunk" warning and limited the cars speed to 26 mph. To address the speed limitation (or it was going to be a looooong ride to the dealer) , I opened the frunk with the emergency release cable above the service brake peddle and then closed the frunk as normal. This reset the computer and I was able to drive the car to the dealer's service dept normally. Turns out, the problem was a faulty Hood Latch Actuator. At this time, the service folks also addressed the convertible hood liner gap and replaced the hood latch actuator. Two days, in and out... great service. Cudos to the folks at Valley Chevrolet in Willkes Bara, PA.

You're not the first and probably won't be the last. In all my years of following different makes and models, this is not a problem I've ever heard before, and it should be ridiculously simple to make this one function nearly 100% reliable, regardless of whether it is a trunk, frunk, or hood latch.
I have the same issue. My car was built about two weeks before yours. I have not had it fixed yet because I live 60 miles from my dealer and the logistics of taking it in have not worked out. Minor glitch, all things considered.

Because buyers have demonstrated time and time again they want convenience and remote opening. Pulling a manual handle is hard work and inconveniently place.
For GTX JOHN.... according to my repair invoice, the only part replaced to perform the fix of the non-operative frunk release was the hood latch actuator, GM part #84806924.

I'm glad you got your frunk latch to work again, Al, and since you mentioned that your HTC roof liner gap was uneven, I'm also interested in how that repair came out. I've never seen one yet that fit perfectly from the factory --or even after a dealership or owner worked on it. I asked in a thread dedicated to that subject if anybody could post photos of both sides of a HTC liner that fit perfectly, and there have been none to date.
Are you happy with the way your roof liner gaps look now? Are the seams even and the same on both sides? My understanding is that some dealerships have said there's nothing they can do about this problem that all HTCs seem to have!
Reply to /Bear/.... gap on interior roof trim panels are now the same....both passenger and driver side. I kinda took the offensive with this issue, knowing that the Dealer's personal C8 HTC had properly fitting interior panels, I suggested they look at his car as an example of proper fit. Not sure what they did to fix the problem on my car, but it is fixed.... no new parts were involved. I did mention there was some discussion on the Corvette Forum about wires / cables interfering with proper panel fit... weather they referenced the Forum information or if they used some other resource, I don't know. Best of luck with your issue.

My frunk won‘t open either. What disturbs me most is the way the manual release is configured. Thankfully it works but for an old guy like me, it’s almost literally beyond reach. You can hook it with the end of this guy; works like a charm.

I fear all of us in many way shapes and forms will be dealing with defective this and that for a long time all stemming from the virus shortages shutdowns and hurried catch up.
Get used to it.
Glad it was an actuator and not a gremlin. Could have been much worse OP. Nice
