Torch Red or Shadow Grey Metallic coupe?
I’m so torn and my allocation is coming up here in April. 3LT all black/suede interior with red stitching and red belts. Red calipers and spectra grey trident wheels, non z51 coupe, with edge red engine cover.
On the one hand, the TR color I love. So exotic like a Ferrari but, not gonna lie, a tadddd gaudy? I don’t mind right now, I’m young (mid 20s) but I plan to keep this car for a long long time and I’m not sure if I want to be in my mid 40s driving a super bright car.
On the other hand, I love the Shadow Grey Metallic color. It looks beautiful and classy and the depth in the color is so cool. I feel like it’s a more subtle color but still has some personality to it.
I’ve seen a torch red and I’m like “damn” that looks good and catches your eye when your passing one going the other way on the parkway 5 lanes over. I have also seen a SGM parked on the street and I couldn’t stop just admiring the intricacy of the color.
also Ik shadow grey is ending this year so I assume I would make the cut if I am an April allocation but I guess you never know. If i did go SGM but for some reason it was built after they ended the color run, what would happen? It’s already entered as a sold order if that makes a difference.
thanks for any insight

FYI....the last build date for SGM is 7.16 I believe. After that factoid go with whatever color you prefer man. I am 38 now, I have had a white car, a red, 3 silvers, two gray metallics and a blue metallic since my first car at 18. Do what you feel is best for you.
With that said, if you look at the March Allocation thread floating about, a lot of SGM guys "seem" to be getting TPW scheduled much sooner than the other colors. Just in case that is a factor for you.

I like the TR but I’m so torn. Have any pics of the interior with the red and the exterior? Like the door open but taken from back a little bit so I can see how the colors compliment each other

Just MHO, but I would do the TR probably go with black calipers (but maybe not on the calipers). I will say you made me laugh about not being sure you want a super bright car when you get in your forties. When you're 60, 40s seems pretty young. I will grow older, but I'll never grow up. You're never too old to own a super bright car, old is a state of mind. (at least until you try to run fast )
but the TR was always like “my dream color” but... I do love the SGM. Like if I was getting a Ferrari, I would get red. If I was getting a McLaren or Audi R8, I would get SG... this is an epitome of first world problems lol..
why would you go black on the calipers?
This is what I would go with, I wanted to get the spoiler and splitter after, without the z51 package

love the combo! The metallic flakes are definitely attractive and add a pop the TR I (believe) wouldn’t have!!
What would happen though if I went with SMG and it wasn’t built before then? Anyone know if Gm would reach back out and ask what color I want instead, or would they cancel the order or move it (to what I assume) would be a 2022 at that point

So those are three dates to overcome, first the order to factory date for your color 5/27, then order to factory date in general for 2021s 6/17 and then the last SGM TPW of 7/19. If you get it your order in earlier than 5/27, then don't worry about the June date and just cross your fingers for a TPW earlier than mid-jury.
The other thing I remember from ordering my 2010 Camaro is that all these dates can flex so just keeps tab on your dealer to make sure you get what you want, when you want. My guy was very cool because he understood the time constraint on my chosen color, most genuinely are too.

I have bright red calipers on my arctic white car and I would also have them on the SGM, on TR it just seems like too much and not enough contrast to me. The black calipers are glossy with decals so they aren't like unfinished on a pickup truck.

Your car, your choice.
My car, my choice SGM. .. It's gonna be close for me. I'm hoping to be in the April allocation but am probably in May. If I miss the deadline for SGM, I'll wait to see the colors offered for a '22, because NOTHING else in the '21 lineup sparks my interest.
They will always make red Corvettes. Not so with SGM .

My specialist explained that in the rare instance that was to happen, he'd reach back out to me and ask what my back up color is. I had the numbers transposed in my original post, the last 2021 order date is 6/17 also the last SGM order to factory date (3000) date is 5/27. The last TPW is 7/19 for SGM, so if you TPW ends up after that, he'd be reaching back out to you for a back up color.
So those are three dates to overcome, first the order to factory date for your color 5/27, then order to factory date in general for 2021s 6/17 and then the last SGM TPW of 7/19. I was also considering both colors. While watching Barrett Jackson all those bright red Ferrari's looked awesome! I then got a quick call to order my C8 because of an open allocation. I had to decide very quickly. I was never a fan of TR. I have had many vettes in various colors. My build is 2LT TR Black Carbon Flash wheels red calipers and black interior. NPP exhaust. All goes well together. No regrets just waiting for arrival! Don't over think it it's a Corvette and will look good in any color.

See, you have already come across that SGM is classy, but not as sporty as TR. Depends on which image pulls you the hardest.
