Speeding Ticket in C8

Drifting
The JBV1 app for the V1 detector uses WAZE information for crowd sourcing. It also somehow links into aircraft monitoring (which lets you know, speed, direction, altitude and owner of "suspicious" aircraft) to become an entire system for "situational awareness". .. Is WAZE always correct about the location(s) of constabulary? NO. Are you ALWAYS going to get a enough warning on a detector? NO... But you will be aware of "danger" most of the time. Nothing is ever perfect. Using tools such as these, and exceeding the speed limit "judiciously" one can avoid MOST adversarial encounters with enforcement.
There are times and places where exceeding POSTED limits is perfectly safe in an automobile designed for "excess" speeds. (As an aside, freeways were designed so that the curves never subject the car to more than .2gs of lateral acceleration, and those yellow "suggested speed" signs before corners .. the same .2gs)
IF one never plans to never exceed the posted limits, one may as well drive a PRIUS.... OR get a car dedicated for the track to never be used on public rights of way.

Agree, Waze is nothing but a distraction and a waste. Unless some one tells you they have seen something and the location Waze is of no value. Then you need to be glued to it constantly to make sure you have the latest updated info. The maps they provide are abundantly available form other sources. It's like an app for children to play with while in the car on a long trip.

Was doing 425 when f16 fighter plane pulled up next to me I said no way I’m going to let him pass drop trans down to 2 second gear mashed on gas pedal all he saw was tail lights in the distance gone. No tickets for the policeman ball for me I always follow break in advice

The other night on the I-10 every single vehicle was doing at least 85 and probably 20% were doing 90 to 95. Almost all were 4 door sedans and SUVs. None were sports cars. Even the Prius’s were doing 80+. I’m kinda perplexed that doing 90-ish in a true sports car on a freeway is even a point worthy of discussion.

I've got about 900 miles on my 21 C8 so still in break-in period. It's very challenging to stay within speed limits especially when on the highway and another performance car pulls alongside. I'm sure some here have not maintained their speed & got a speeding ticket. Just wondering how many of you have been cited for speeding 90+ mph in their C8. I don't want to know about when you were driving any other vehicle, just when driving a 20 or 21 Vette. Please state your speed & the speed limit & whether it was within break-in period or not.

2020 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
For my break in period I decided to drive from Vegas to LA and then back a week later. I went up and down the gears and stayed out of auto mode (and therefore V4 mode). Don't quote me but "someone" took their car over 100+ on that trip on occasions, and often over 85MPH on a road for 75 MPH. No ticket though. You have to know where and when.

Looks like there are a bunch of paranoid sissies here. You already got a ticket (for the very few of you that did)! You tell us the speed limit & what speed is on the ticket. Surely I'm a highway patrolman, your local cop or someone that's out to get you if you say "yeah I was doing 87 in a 75 zone". I'll probably be at your house to arrest you within the next day or two. I don't even know what data mining is! Weird people here!

GM advice on driving the C*8 "The LT2 engine in the Corvette is a very capable and powerful powerplant; the jewel within the all-new mid-engine design. Producing 495 horsepower at 6450 rpm and 470 lb-ft. of torque at 5150 rpm with performance exhaust, this engine produces more naturally aspirated HP per liter of displacement than any Corvette engine in history.
To fully enable this extreme level of engine performance, the LT2 was designed to be driven. Like many performance car engines, the LT2 is sensitive to short run-time starts where the spark plug does not have time to heat up. In these cases, carbon from the combustion process can accumulate on the spark plug and result in rough idle or misfire. The best way to keep your spark plugs clean is to safely exercise your Corvette on your favorite roads or track. Both running your engine and spirited driving can clean plugs that may be partially impacted.
Get in the spirit guys.

Burning Brakes
Right after I took my 19 vert out of winter storage, Was on my way home from Lake Placid. My wife was tired of me being behind a slower vehicle, and told me to pass him.
When I went by him, a quick glance at the HUD said I was doing 108. Within a minute or so, there were flashing lights behind me. State trooper , said he had me doing 80,
I breathed a sigh of relief that's all he had me at. Asked for license and registration.Didn't have my license with me. My wife's son is also a state trooper, so with my registration
I always have the family id card he gave us. When the trooper who stopped me saw the card, he said hmmmmm.guess you owe me one. He also noted that there was no
front plate on the car. Advised me to use cruise control..........
At age 70, I guess I need to cool my jets.......

Yep I seldom take the Interstate to town with the Vette for several reasons, one being the many 18 wheeler tire treads on the highway and Pick-Up trucks and SUVs, just go over and forces me to change lanes or there goes my splitter! I will also only drive at ~7 over the 70 mph limit. In the section of Interstate to town we have many officers patrolling. In fact we're the only significant size city on I95 in SC. All others are some distance from the Interstate. Good money maker! .In fact there is a ~5 mile section that the speed lime drops to 60 mph, where I20 intersects I95. See many folks driving to FL from "Up North" who are typically traveling well over 80 mph, don't slow down in that section.. Wide grass center area with trees where highway patrol park. I set cruise control, even on the wife's SUV at 67 mph. When someone with out-of-state plates passes at 80+ mph I know that will be a big fine. I just smile and say thanks, keeps my taxes low. Have also seen folks in the left lane going 80+ with their cell phone on top of the steering wheel and thumbs pounding out a useless test message! Scary!
Edit: Dang, there is an I20, right in Florence. Should look out for a speed trap there next time.
