Do all cars spend at least a few days in QC before being ready to ship? I don’t have stripes
being put on but think Chevyluver may be on to something with his thesis.
It's been 10 days since mine was built and no updates from MM or chat. Sent an email to Shane and found out it's on quality hold. Damn. I guess the waiting continues...
mine was built on 10/28. Something is going on with quality. Hopefully not a 🍋
Mine has been on quality hold since 11/2. Seems like a larger than normal amount of quality holds lately. Maybe due to the parts shortage they are holding cars after production and then completing the build when the parts arrive. Don't know, but frustrating.
Very odd so many cars on hold. Mine was one of the last ones to be built on 11/5, VIN 6089. It’s already at Ciocca & I’m picking it up tomorrow. I hope it has all its parts.
No stripes but lots of other upgrades in the car.

Good to know that they aren't holding all cars. I'm 5772, no stripes either but lots of other upgrades as well.
Vin #5802, mine was built on 11/2 and left BG on 11/10, truck is currently 2 hours away from Ciocca parked for the night. Anticipating it to arrive today (Saturday) hopefully. I have Z51, FEL, MRC, and full racing stripes just for comparison with what everyone waiting at QC have. I guess 8 days total isn’t too bad before being transported.

Thank’s for the info. Your production was in the middle of the single shift period where they likely were short on parts. With that assumption parts were missing and the car was bayed until parts were received, 8 days is reasonable. If your car is being shipped without those parts and then requiring the dealership to install, I’m not sure how to interpret the wait.
I took delivery of my order yesterday 11/12/21. It was actually ready for delivery on 11/11/21, but I had to fly out to Alabama to pick it up, so that delay was on me.
Thanks to all on this thread. The info and advice really helped me. Hope my datapoint helps others.
Thanks RandelB for all the hard work of organizing the data daily.
BGA has been hit with several parts shortages… BGA only has few repairs teams working in the yard to repair and releases these cars. Some of the components are still not available for these vehicles since the production line as the priority,
So let me understand this, after months of waiting and our turn comes up for the assembly plant to complete our orders and we then have another part shortage. ( the exact parts named in the shortage are highly classified ) Your corvette gets built without certain parts. The corvette then gets placed in the moth ball section of the outside parking lot until the moth ball squad receives these highly classified parts and slowly but surely completes your order. Mean while when the parts needed for the assembly plant line is adequate and the assembly plant line starts up and these corvettes are completed with all their parts they get shipped to their appropriate dealers for delivery, we in the moth ball section are still waiting for completion of our build. That sucks. Priority should be given to complete our orders first according to vin numbers.

it could be that scenario or it could be specific options. Let’s say that you ordered a 3lt with yellow stitching… if they don’t have the headliner with yellow stitching, your car might be waiting on that exact piece. There are quite a few customized combinations, so if this was the scenario that is affecting production, it could be a single piece or a combination of things. Either way, if you were in charge of production, would you hold up thousands of cars to wait for a few dozen to be completed? I’m sure this isn’t the first time something like this has happened and they are doing the best to mitigate the delays.

I think what he is upset about, and rightly so, is that if John is right this means that if the missing part becomes available, it is directed to cars on the production line first, meaning that cars waiting for parts will only get those parts once they are available at a surplus. This approach doesn’t increase the amount of cars going out (unless there’s some other factors at play), it just makes it so that instead of everyone taking a week or two longer to get their car, you have a few sacrificial customers that will have potentially much longer waits so that everyone else is happy. Would I do the same if I was a plant manager? Probably. Doesn’t make it any less shitty to be on the receiving end of it.
I certainly hope I’m misunderstanding the situation and am wrong.
Unfortunately, I am one of those on the receiving end of the QC hold issue. 11 days and counting. It really sucks to have waiting this long and then to potentially see cars with VIN numbers after mine being produced and shipped. I understand the reasoning behind it, but it doesn't make it suck any less for me. I would hope they would put a priority, maybe more people, to get those of us on hold completed and shipped.
PS - John, thanks for the intel. I think all of us very much appreciate it - at least I do.
