I think what he is upset about, and rightly so, is that if John is right this means that if the missing part becomes available, it is directed to cars on the production line first, meaning that cars waiting for parts will only get those parts once they are available at a surplus. This approach doesn’t increase the amount of cars going out (unless there’s some other factors at play), it just makes it so that instead of everyone taking a week or two longer to get their car, you have a few sacrificial customers that will have potentially much longer waits so that everyone else is happy. Would I do the same if I was a plant manager? Probably. Doesn’t make it any less shitty to be on the receiving end of it.
I certainly hope I’m misunderstanding the situation and am wrong.
my point is that NONE of us know what is actually going on. There could be multiple issues or no issues. There have been many orders that were at 3800 and the cars have actually been shipped and were sitting at the dealership. Getting upset about any of this is pointless, because there isn’t anything we can do about it.

With all due respect, John's intel over the past month has been spot on - so I believe what he is saying to be true. And true, there is nothing we can do about the situation. But it truly sucks and upsets me as I have already paid for the car from MM. They invoice you once the car is produced (when not taking delivery there). And two, my car will be shipped to me via Intercity. Over the past 6 months their price has gone up by $700 to ship to the west coast due the gas price increases. The longer I wait, and if gas prices continue to increase, the more I will have to pay for delivery. So yeah, I'm upset.

oh, I know Johns intel has been correct. I also understand that you are upset, but there isn’t anything that can be done about it. If you re read John’s post, he says that BGA has been hit with several parts shortages and that some of the components are still not available. This brings me back to my point that not all cars use all of the same components. 1lt, vs 2lt, vs 3lt… z51, mag ride, interior colors, etc. Maybe you are 1 of 20 people that ordered Strike Yellow interior and they are waiting on seats from the supplier… it would be stupid of them to stop all production to wait on 40 seats to show up. Your car might not even be delayed from a parts shortage, it could be a paint flaw they found and are fixing… you don’t know and neither does anyone else here. Please don’t take my response as being rude, it’s not my intention, I just see some possible jumping to conclusions.
Picked up the new baby late Thursday afternoon, took Friday off to take care of registration, tags, and title in Texas. All one stop, at the county tax office, though waiting over an hour. I WAS going to try to get someone to do the inspection, which has to be done first, but the Courtesy Delivery dealer (Classic in Sugar Land, car purchased from McMulkin) took care of it, and put the paperwork in the glove box. Would have been nice if they had told me. As it was, I just happened to open the glove box to get out the manual, and there it was! Years ago I purchased a new vehicle from a dealer out of state, and had it trucked in to my house. The delivery was nice and easy, but then getting it inspected was an enormous pain, had to put lots of miles on, in just the right way, to get the computer happy for the inspection. Using a CD was SOOOO much easier.
It's now off for PPF and CC. Once its all done I'll post some pics. It is VERY different from my C6 to drive.
I know its a long journey for everyone. Hang in there, it certainly seems worth it to me. And thanks to everyone providing information, really making it much easier to understand what is supposed to happen, what might happen, what we hope doesn't happen. I think generally less stress with all the knowledge. Though sometimes more!
FYI, John posted an update in the quality control holds thread for those of us on quality hold due to the parts shortage. John stated that BGA is making some headway on these cars and we should be seeing them soon. Great news!!! Link to his post below.
MacCrash
VIN: 05874
3800 11/5 Produced
4000 11/10 Avail to ship
4100 11/12 DELAYED
Not that it matters that much, but I think your car was produced on 11/3, not 11/5 according to the spreadsheet on the 2022 Production Spreadsheet thread (link below).
You are most likely in the same boat as me (produced 11/2) and others built during the two week slowdown missing parts due to the parts shortage and waiting on BGA to install the missing parts. That being said, John58 has reported that BGA personnel are diligently working on the issue and hope to have the affected cars shipped very soon.
For the people currently on quality hold, has your dealer reach out for payment yet?
Mine was built 11/8. Spoke with Amoni at Ciocca on Thursday and he said they had not been invoiced yet so I assume I am in a QC hold. He said they would reach out for payment as soon as they got the invoice.
I have spent some time mining data from this forum and MECF. I have sent numerous private messages requesting updates and received several back, thank you. The spreadsheet is getting fuller and fuller by the day. Thank you all for your contributions. The information that is possible to find in this big sheet is valuable to those that still have orders coming up. Keep the updates coming. 52% of the tracked cars have been delivered into the loving arms of their owner.
The highlighted cells are markers for noting that private messages have been sent, without replies.
I also recommend that if a reference to a particular data point is being quoted, be sure that you are using the latest update. The date is in the top row.
Aw right aw right aw right! C8's in SW Florida are getting as common as dog crap on a sidewalk, Small show Sunday in Bonita and there were over a dozen! And I'm still on my temporary plate! There went my 15 seconds of fame and excitement.
Built on 11/9 now on hold 4D00. Just when you think you're about to get your car, something else seems to happen. The wait for an allocation seemed like it took forever, but these production slowdowns and now this hold seem to be taking just as long....This is one rollercoaster ride. I hope the actual ride after the car is delivered is smoother and more fun.
