2020 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
I hear far more high horse down-talking from DD folks than I hear from folks who use it in good weather only.
Its your car, nobody is "right".
As for the OP - gonna have to total it.

I live in Oregon.
I have 2 - 4 wheel drives and I would never drive my C8 in the pouring rain.
Why?
1) Because it is a shitty wet weather car
2) My trucks kick *** in the rain, mud and snow - they are fun to drive in the worst of weather.
3) I like like my Corvette clean and don't want to scrub road sand out of the cracks

Too bad the weather was so messy. A little elbow grease and the car will look great again.

Living in Florida you better get used to the rain and lots of it. Drive mine all the time in the rain here and to date it has not melted or rusted so I guess it will be OK long term LOL
Drive it , wash it and enjoy it Life is too short to do otherwise
Be safe

One for all you never drive it in the rain guys! Got caught in a stormiest night on the way home, stopped at a hotel and woke up to this. Brush it off keep moving. Love this car!

I wish you drive in bad weather guys would come up with some new wisecracks for us who don't. The above are really getting old seeing them posted thread after thread hundreds of times over the years. More childish than funny.

I feel a lot of these threads that always seem to turn into berate those who don't drive Corvettes in bad weather sessions are fueled by those who are envious because they don't have anything else to drive except their Corvettes.
Do what you want with your Corvette, but there's no reason to berate those who don't do the same.

A few years back I took in a little car care seminar at the museum during the spring Bash put on by a Bowling Green engineer.
He pointed out a beautiful sunny day was harder on your cars (paint, plastics, rubber) than a rainy one.
He reminded everyone they make these cars to be driven.

I get and share the interest in keeping the car nice. But the first time I had the opportunity to drive in the rain, here is what I posted about it a while back, in a post titled 'now I am even more impressed with it":
"I have had my HTC since the end of June [of 2021], with over 1500 miles so far. Until yesterday, I have driven almost exclusively with the top down - maybe some very short drives with the top up and never in the rain. Until yesterday. I took and hour drive with the top down to meet some friends at watering hole. The weather was beautiful, but it did not last. When we left, it was raining heavily, windy, and it was dark, and getting cold. I drove home, for an hour, with the top up and in the weather mode. It was fantastic. It was quiet, smooth, and surefooted. And, up until this time, I had not really used the rear view mirror/camera. That too worked absolutely great. I felt relaxed, and confident. I could not have been more pleased. My wife commented on what a great ride it was."

Sorry guys, but if I could only afford to have one car it wouldn't be a Corvette. I shy away from driving any of my toys in the rain because I just don't have the time or get much joy from doing a deep clean. And winter? I live in Minnesota and have watched what the "salt mist" from driving down a wet highway that's been treated with salt does to every metal surface and nut and bolt over time - you just can't effectively clean up every place that the salt slurry can find it's way in to.
I won't berate anyone for driving their own car anywhere or anytime they want. I just hope I don't stumble upon their car when I am in the used market.

THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WIT THAT.
And these cars are NOT just made to be driven, they are made for GM to make $$$$, and for the individual to enjoy them anyway they see fit.
It's really bizarre how you 'drive it everyday in any weather' guys get so butt-hurt by those of us who don't. Why do you even care what others do with their Corvettes.

IMO some of you just don't 'get it', as it's not about the rain damaging your Corvette's finish it's about some just like to keep THEIR Corvettes clean/immaculate. Meaning inside-outside-under hood-underneath free of dirty-muddy water in the cracks and crevices.
THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WIT THAT.

Anyhow, I'm one of those "sunny day drivers" and had to laugh at myself a bit during that class.

Yet there's thread after thread, post after post from those who drive their Corvettes everyday and/or in bad weather berating and belittling those who don't.
