Default C8 Roof Panels

In the process of selecting my 2023 options and have a few roof panel questions.

01- Are the transparent roof panels edges the same as the body color or is the entire panel dark?

02 - Does the transparent panels come with a shade?

03 - Is the carbon fiber roof panel transparent?

Thanks - Greatly appreciated

BTW. The carbon fiber optional targa top is a lot less expensive than if you order along with the car. It's really expensive if you buy it later from GM Parts. I read it cost over $8000 if you buy it over the counter from GM Parts. I think it weights 2 pounds less than the standard stock top.

Transparent tops do not come from the factory with body colored edges. If you want the side edges to match the body color you have to get it painted or wrapped unless you are ordering a black car.

That is not correct. The transparent top does NOT come with body color edges. From the visualizer:

I have an HTC, though with my C7 I had a coupe. Best advice I got, and I did, was get the stock roof with the car and just get a transparent roof as an accessory. That way you have both so if you want the solid top for lots of sun you have it.

Plus the transparent tops hold their value fairly well. I sold my c7's transparent top on corvette forum for 400 less than I paid for it and got years of enjoyment.

Of all the features of my C8, the clear top would be among the top that I would not give up. They offer increased headroom and a nice feeling of openness and spaciousness. I got the dual room package, however I doubt I will ever put my painted top on. I highly recommend the clear top to anyone purchasing a new C8 coupe. Below is OEM roof panel.

I've always gotten both solid and transparent... never used the solid on any Vette, and I live in the South (no problem; a/c works just fine).

I have both roof panels on my C7 and it is extremely rare when I put the solid panel on the car, But, as mentioned, if you want both panels, get them as part of your order process as the second panel is cheaper that way..

I like the solid panel in sometimes when it’s really hot and I don’t want the sun beating down on my head but yes I do like the tinted one most of the time. I have stripes on my car and didn’t want them put over the tinted panel so I got the package (which yes, is cheaper when you buy when ordering as opposed to separate afterwards)

Same here, have driven my C8 in *95+ temps and not uncomfortable at all, these cars have a kick-*** AC.

A few comments:
1. If you have decided to purchase the transparent top with the car put it on the order. I was undecided so ordered after purchasing the car and the price as a stand-alone accessory was twice the price of one ordered with the car.
2. My C4 had a transparent roof and the transparency went all the way to the sides. This one has sections front/back/sides that are not transparent so less "open" feeling.
3. Because the transparent top has no lining, I notice the car is a bit more noisy ie the sound from tires/engine etc is not dampened.
4. I also noticed I had turn my A/C from 22C to 20C to stay comfortable on a sunny day.

Th transparent top cost me $3500. Not likely to recover that cost when sold. I am on fence as to whether it was good value. At half the price I would do it again.

One thing I was worried about in ordering the transparent top for my C8 was noise as I've had transparent tops on C3s and C4s and all squeaked and rattled which was very annoying. However the C8 transparent top is 100% quiet, at least mine is.
Also the dual transparent top option comes with a nice carry case for the top. I believe the case cost a little extra if you order with just transparent top.

NO, that is incorrect on #1.
The transparent panels are black glass color on the sides. Transparent in the middle.
You can take it to a body shop and get the sides painted body color if you want.
