Has anyone had problems with the AM radio installed in the C8?
I live in the upper lower peninsula of Michigan 4 months of the summer.
I rely on AM service and have static on the local stations interfering with reception . My 2010 F150 AM reception fine. FM is sparse and doesn’t provide local news, etc.

It's not just FORD. It's many of the manufacturers going electric. The AM is hard to shield interference from the electric motors. Far cheaper to delete AM than to find and implement a fix. There has even already been movement in Congress to pass a law making them keep it in cars because of the emergency network(s). (Conspiracy theorists believe that it's to silence conservative radio as that's where much of the right wing radio exists)
But none of this addresses the problems mentioned by OP. I haven't had the problem as I generally listen to anything OTHER than AM. ..

They were trying but I believe Federal government said no dice. Because of AM range, being created for rural America's use to be informed especially in disasters it will still be required. This can't save much money as most likely a very simple tuner chip.
The last time I listened to an AM radio station was about 1966 on a crystal radio kit (kind of like the photo below) using my Dad's single mono ear phone from his expensive transistor radio.....LOL I listened to a night talk show on KDKA in Pttsburgh......
This may be the first entertainment feature to be ***MANDATED*** on new vehicles sold in the USA, in history of automobiles. Even though we managed quite well for 60 years with no radios as standard equipment.
As in, it will shortly be against the law to sell a vehicle without this entertainment feature. A track-optimized street legal car with no radio would be as illegal as a crack pipe.

Am quality poor most of the NY metro am stations are on HD FM frequencies with much better audio. 710/880/1010 etc I like my am commute with information and banter and stick with HD radio am (actually broadcast on FM frequency) or I heart radio through apple car play virtually never using car am source
