Default Engine cover painting

I painted my engine cover red. I also have some white letters on want to put on. But, I am thinking it will look better with the side rails black. Any ideas how to paint them without painting the whole cover again. thx

I bought the ones from Amazon. No I am on the fence of trying to remove them so I can install the colored letter inserts I bought. Unfortunately I wlll be tossing out the 50 or so bucks that I spent on them. Every time I go to remove them, I see that other than not saying Corvette on them, they don't look too bad. I painted my cover using Dupli Color paint, Testors model paint and masking tape. Only thing I would like to do now is remov

Maybe a bit of clear coat is needed

Not sure what clear coating would make it any better.
e the cover and spray the clear coat for a bit more gloss. But as they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I didn't. I bought the badge on Amazon. It is bigger than what it is covering, but easier to see. Used 3M double back tape to hold it.

Just did it this weekend in metallic red. I actually like the silver over the black that comes on the factory edge red one.

A lot of sanding, a lot of primer, more sanding, more primer. Then automotive paint. Base coat, clear coat. It takes a lot of time, but I am happy with the gloss finished look.

That is truly next-level. I'm really happy with mine, but that gloss finish looks better than a lot of exteriors.
